Merry Christmas! Here's what's been happening and where it's going.

So here's what's been happening for... well, years now. First of all, I was a grad student, trying to get a Master's Degree. I had some big up s and some decently bad downs. In addition, I was unemployed for seven months AND I live with my parents. Not exactly a good combination for free time, not having money and being hounded because of it. Then I finally managed to get a job... as a

Thinking of the past in the future

So good news, I finally finished a grueling class and managed to get an A in it, so I've got about a week or two of mostly free time (still need to find a job). So expect updates coming.

Trying to get back in the groove (Fan request)

So as you can tell I haven't written anything in a while. Life has been difficult lately, and every time I try to write I get distracted or lose interest. I don't want to let you guys down though, but I can't seem to get the motivation, at least for the stories I already have. I have so many new ideas but I don't want to work on them until I get some other things finished or at least progress

    Patreon Voting Deadline

Just so you guys know my first Patreon fanfic poll will be ending tomorrow. This is deciding which fic I will focus most of my effort on and (hopefully) finish the next chapter by the end of the month. Right now it's 2 to 2 between "Epicness" and "(Un)Dead" (so I may have to just toss a coin. Remember, $1 patrons get to vote, and $3 patrons get to look at and leave comments on the fic google doc

    Getting Down to Patreon

Some 6 month internship ended, and though I will be looking for a new job I will also be using to this free time to both get back to really working on my fan fictions and start using Patreon in earnest. As I mentioned before, I'm going to have one tier on my Patreon where Paetrons can have a look, and leave comments, on certain fanfic chapters I'm working on. So here's how this is gonna work.

So, it's not going to be coming out any time soon, but I wanted to ask you guys your opinion for something for the next chapter of Epicness. Now that we actually have a canon version of them, should I make the hippogriffs that I intend to show up look like they do in the movie, or do what I was going to do which was basically just griffins with pony hind ends.

Personally, I'm looking forwards to doing the former, but what about you guys?

I suggest a mix of both most hippogriffs became sea dwellers but some still live on the land.

Silver Quill. Nuff said.

Do a little of both, there are a Hippogrifs and the Hippocampi. Both are technically the same, one just dwells in the water while the other is on land/in the air. Both can meet with each other, with the help of the pearl of course.

Every time an author asks his audience what they'd prefer, I cringe a little. Do whatever you like, guy, just make sure that if you do go with the movie version that you give a proper description for those of us who can't be bothered to go see mlp movies.

for me, hippogriffs will always be half-bird, half-pony

I'd say mix them up. Take the best of what you enjoy of both and make something awesome out of those ingredients.

Go with both. I'd argue that hippogriffs as represented by Silver Quill are first-generation hippogriffs (one parent a pony, one parent a griffin), while the canon hippogriffs are the result of several generations of hippogriffs having hippogriff babies.

I appreciate that, but when I ask the audience what they want it’s usually because I don’t know what I want.

If you don't feel strongly one way or another about it, then it's hardly important to you, is it? Why describe them at all, then? Or have them in the story in the first place? They're irrelevant, after all.

If the makers of the show wanted their movie lore to matter, they wouldn't have used it in movies. Because do you remember that one episode where Twilight bemoaned the fact she couldn't hang out with Sunset Shimmer for a bit? Or that one time that anybody commented on Sombra's reformation? No? Then that should tell you how integral the makers consider the comics and movies to be. They're extra material, and thus they're immaterial.

If you want to keep the story consistent with the movies (which seems a bit... impossible,) then go ahead and do what you gotta do. If not, then why bother with the movie-hippogriffs in the first place?

personally i'm just waiting for ponies watch red vs blue on devianart to update

The more griffin parts, the better.
