Checking In - December 2017 · 5:20pm Dec 1st, 2017
Greetings everyone! In the interest of keeping you all informed, this is the first of what I hope will be a monthly blog It’ll just be a brief summary of my writing progress, setting some modest goals for the next month and a few words on what’s going on in my life. I feel like it’ll be a good way to keep me focused, especially with what I’ve been dealing with recently. I’ll explain that a bit further down after the break.
Statistics:
So let's start with the numbers! This summary only includes words written for actual stories. World building, notes, and these blogs won't count.
Total Words Written: 10,599
Published Chapters:
Finding a Place: Chapter 41 (7,846 words)
Thoughts:
So, I barely broke 10,000 words written and only published one chapter. If it was any other month I’d be more disappointed but I'm honestly surprised I wrote this much. Almost all that writing was done in the past two weeks. Everything I wrote during the month of October and in early November was in spite of my mental state. The last couple nights have felt particularly productive and there's a very good reason for that.
About the second week of October, I finished the process of going off my antidepressants. There’s a long and boring story about why I had to do such a foolish thing. Unfortunately, I also confirmed that one of the most glaring symptoms of my depression is a total loss of motivation. It took two weeks to realize I really had to go back on them and another week to finally get to my doctor. On November tenth I started back into the medication. It’ll be a few months until I’m completely back to normal but it’s already getting easier to focus.
December Goals:
So here are my goals for the month of December. I’m keeping them modest considering where I’m at right now. Plus that whole holiday season thing is going to keep me a bit busy. These goals are in order of priority.
#1: Finish writing and publish the next two Chapters of Finding a Place.
#2: Finish writing one chapter of another story.
#3: Review Broken Guardian for potential re-write.
Change has to start somewhere and I feel like this post marks the first step in the right direction. We’ll see how I did when I check in after the New Year! Thank you all for reading and for your support!
