NaNoWriMo week 4 wrap-up: WINNING · 10:09pm Nov 28th, 2017
I'm a winner! NaNoWriMo says so, anyway. 
Oh em gee. Getting 50,000 words written on To Serve In Hell in the span of a month has been trying, and tiring, and really, really awesome. I've written something like 17 chapters, which would've represented a year and a half of best-case progress on the monthly schedule I was trying to stick to. Granted, that still leaves... maybe 14 more chapters yet to be tackled? Then of course all this glorious hotness needs to be edited... 
Ugh!! How do people write longer works?! If only someone had recently done a panel on that very topic. 
But seriously, I'd forgotten how difficult it is to write things that are this long. From where I'm standing now, I can hardly even begin to imagine writing stuff that's tons longer. And yet... people do do it all the time, and for the first time in a long time, I'm getting a glimpse into that world again. The experience renews some of my old memories of trying to get off the ground as a nascent writer of poor-quality epic sci-fi/fantasy whose reader-base was basically no one. It also makes me feel really thankful once again for all the awesome people on FimFic (and the Writeoff site) for reading and giving feedback on my stuff since then. I don't think I could be working on this without you guys and all you do. Especially looking back on the year, with my health and writing output taking a nosedive through the middle months... I'm just glad to be here with all y'all. Really glad to be back up and at 'em again!
But of course the best thing of all is that you're all gonna get a chance to read the rest of the story sometime prior to the heat-death of the universe. 
It's got tension, mystery, body count... 
it's gonna be fantastic getting it out there!

It seemed like the appropriate allusion to draw, though; this is a satisfying moment where things are going well with the story, which is a welcome change from recent norms.
Now to catch up on the huge list of things that I haven't kept up with this month to buy writing time...
