My story, and why writing MLP leaves me now.... conflicted

I think my last post was brief, so I might as well go into some detail here about my story, why I started writing mlp fanfic, and what is happening now.

    G5: OH THE IRONY...

You know, it's really really funny... G5 has all the three tribes of ponies hating each other, and living in a modern setting centuries after FiM. I wrote about this very ideas years ago, before G5 was ever conceived of, in a story where Celestia and Luna go on a vacation incognito to the earth pony town of Coltonville, and find pony hatred and paranoia, as well as a conspiracy against unicorn

    Returning for real this time

Okay, everybody, Paradise/Tornado here again! Yes I know it's been a year, but I needed time to recover from a ten-year burnout in writing, and it took awhile to get my creative juices flowing again. I'm putting together plans for a new story or two, though my plans for my 'big finish' story are on hold again. I hope many of you are still here, and look forward to entertaining all of you with my

The Equestria of Today · 9:10pm Nov 21st, 2017

Equestria... the land of harmony, home of the ponies of friendship. These ponies are of a different breed than we Ponylanders are; more accepting and tolerant, embrace equality and friendship (scorned by us Ponylanders), and they more willing to forgive than we are. These gentle ponies think us to savage and unforgiving, and call us barbarians for our rigid intolerance, and herd collectivism. This ancient kingdom has endured many attacks by many foes, and has held strong against even the worst of foes, and endured the most horrible of invasions. These ponies have been forced to rebuild again and again, but it has not dampened their cheerfulness or optimism one little bit.

But it is true Equestria has changed over the millennium, having shifted south after the Grogar wars. the present-day capital, Selenia, is named after the former alicorn princess of the night, and is an almost a perfect reconstruction of the ancient capital, Canterlot. Likewise, most of the towns and cities of Equestria were exact rebuilds of their counterparts to the north. Manehatten, Fillydelphia, Vanhoover, Las Pegasus... all of the towns are such a perfect rebuild of the Equestria of the ancient world, that Fluttershy or Rarity could walk down the street, and believe they were even back at home. The entire kingdom, which is pretty much the same size of ancient Equestria, is like some kind of time capsule of the ancient world.

The only major difference, besides the capital's name, is the ruler of Equestria, Princess Skyla. She inherited the throne after the death of Princess Luna, and she has done her best to maintain this ancient land. We Ponylanders hold the Equestrians in contempt for their gentle weakness, their willingness to make friends with things that want to eat them. They have no structure for their society, favoring individualism over Ponyland Collectivism, their feelings take precedence over faith and spirituality, and they waste the first third of their lives trying to figure out who they are, instead of being born with their cutie mark, like we Ponylanders are.

And yet... I must admit they seem to make it work for them, somehow. Their ability to make friends with anybody gives them a whole variety allies throughout the world, whereas Ponyland stands alone, in an entire world that is hostile to us. I hate to say it, but I almost slightly envy their ability to make friends.

*raises an amused eyebrow* "Gentle weakness", huh?

Ever stop to think that we Equestrians, no matter our dimension, just might know something that you Ponylanders don't, Lady Paradise?

Seriously, the more I hear about your... "Confederacy"... the more I really pity you all.

Even when I say something mostly positive about Equestria, with one or two critical lines.... :ajbemused:

...and you wonder why we don't like you.

4731570 And that's your right, Milady, but............

You wonder why you Ponylanders stand alone, while we Equestrians collect friends and allies like Fluttershy collects animals, or Derpy collects muffins.

Also, as I've said elsewhere before, your world and dimension aren't mine, Milady, and our history isn't ours.
We're very different in that respect.
(We wouldn't put up with some of the horseapples that you do, like the idiot griffins (and suchlike) that keep plaguing you, for one.)
(Especially since our Princess Luna reclaimed her ancient title and position of "Warmistress of Equestria" since her return awhile ago.)

Although a friend of mine, Lyra Heartstrings, when she isn't obsessing over hands and mythical creatures like "humans", is always insisting that our own history has things like I've read about your people and world that supposedly took place here, but well before the time before the Founding of our Equestria.... something that the records and journals of the eminent and legendary Mage, Star Swirl the Bearded, summarily debunked and denied.

Honestly, as much as I like and respect her, Lyra can be a bit... odd...at times.

Anyway, to each their own, right?

That said, I don't want to fight you on any level, Milady. Your history and world are yours and mine is mine.

Fair enough?

And you all wonder just why we call all of Ponyland and New Equestria the Successor States when we first visited. Though we do have to remind ourselves that this world isn't ours, that this Equestria isn't New Home, we can't just forget what it took to forge the nation out of the wilderness is the same that helped forged this world's Equestria.

But as Scout Wolfsong said, we do not want to fight you. But remember to some weakness is their greatest strength. And in the end, Harmony will prevail.

I thought Pony Land had alliances or least friendship with the ice orcs and lava demons (after Lavan's death), the Mountain King, the penguins of the Far North, the crabnasties, the dell dwellers, the troggles freed from Grogar, the pennas, the bushwoolies, the wingless dragons, the Weather Witch, the Man in the Moon, the various pixie, fairy, gnome, and human settlements around your territory, and countless others.

Al, we are friends with about two dozen species both within and outside of the Confederacy, most of them small tribes, clans, or kingdoms. By comparison, the equestrians have alliances and friendships with thirty of the world's major nations and empires. We... have a long way to go to catch up.

4731731
I'd rather have you friends. They may be small in number, they're unconventional and diverse. I think your friendship is also stronger (forged in an understanding of your differences and commonalities) than the empty platitude friendship has become for Equestria where simply stating it makes it so. Trust me, your friends are more likely to be there in a crisis than Equestria's (and your coalition can turn the very environment against any foe).

4731773
Can't argue with that logic, I suppose you're right, Al. I will say our friends are TRUE friends, our friendships forged in fire, so to speak.

With the way the Equestrians in your world are, they do seem to be weak. A more warlike mentality would aid them significantly. I'm thinking, had they never been like that, would Equestria ever have fallen?

4931095
I\Sadly, if they had been more militant, they might have survived. The forces of darkness may have actually been defeated.

Now regarding my East Equestrians in those two stories, I'm thinking Starlight would have unified the nation to where they would have won. I'm not completely familiar with how bad the evils truly were in your world but Starlight turned her kind into a much less trustful race and more warlike. I will admit, I feel bad for the Equestrians in your universe but you are right and I have brought things up in my own, not having a standing army will come to bite them in the ass. I know it would destroy the whole point of "Friendship is Magic" but I think Equestria needs an actual military, not a bunch of guards who would run in terror over a true invasion.

Speaking of guards, I'm thinking of writing one where Flash Sentry is supposed to be guarding Celestia's cake but he runs from a parasprite and then either a new infestation will begin or Rarity, Fluttershy and Rainbow will eat it....end result, Flash goes to Tartarus!

huh? Stories? Well, I think telling stories about ponies from the past is an excellent idea! Tornado does it all the time, and if you were to write any, I'd be happy to include them in the dream castle library!

-Paradise

Regarding tales of ponies from the past, that would likely be most easily done by Supreme Commander Colgate and all of this would have to stem off the final Terror in Equestria story. Where it sits right now, it is 25,000 years after the coronation of Princess Twilight. Colgate's longevity is in large part thanks to being transformed by Twilight herself prior to her becoming evil. What Colgate could do is do works involving historical facts that she was alive to witness, especially those that were prior to Equestria and all of Eqqus becoming more warlike.

It would likely be a history book involving things prior to her birth, the things that she was alive to see prior to Twilight's arrival....this Colgate always lived in Ponyville, the events regarding Twilight's arrival, Nightmare Moon, Discord, Chrysalis, King Sombra and her ascension. My TiE universe began right after the end of season 3 so in that universe, nothing after her coronation in the show ever happened. Harmony was tested and eventually broken. Thing is, I won't be able to do anything like that until after the 11th and final Terror in Equestria story is done and she will have the time to write history books instead of facing off against her enemies.

These will be things that the citizens of her unified world will likely not know. Most of the ponies of the world as it is at the currently is only know about the more recent terrors unleashed. Things such as both G1 and G4 Tirek wrecking havoc upon Equestria and very vaguely about Grogar and the problems he caused. My timeline up from Twi's coronation to this point is extremely non-canon, not to mention Alicorns are more numerous thanks to spells learned by both Twi and Colgate to transform any race into one solely for necessity.

I'm not sure if Colgate writing about current times 25,000 years in the future would count as writing about ponies from the past though. I know our universes are radically different and both have their own evils....oh and one question, does G1 and G4 Tirek spell their names alike. In the TiE universe, G1 Tirek's name is spelled Tirac and is pronounced (Tear-ahk) and G4's is like it is in the show.

4931116

Although I do like the idea of how you have a historian. I think that would work much better than having Colgate write the text herself because she will still be busy. I know I can't have her generals do it either.....but I can't just come up with some random pony....materializing out of the middle of nowhere! Do you have any advice on how I would do that, once I finish the last TiE story, which may not be until December or even later?
