Top Ten Potential New Members of the CMC, Version 2

While the CMC shined pretty well this season, I think it's safe to say that their group dynamic has gotten a tad bit stale. Individually we have a good sense of their personalities, but they seldom seem to be at odds over the problem facing them. I already made this list once before, after Season 6 ended, but there are a few changes that I felt warranted a revisiting of this list (the reason why I didn't touch the CMC or the princesses in ranking here, is because none of my opinions on them changed at all. Even despite her greater presence in "A Royal Problem", Princess Luna still ranks below Princess Cadence for me). Here's the first version, let' see what changed.

10. Tender Taps
Why he moved down: Poor Tender Taps, so easily forgotten. Even prior to Season 7, he was very quickly left by the wayside, and any shipping attempts between him and Apple Bloom faded into the background. It'd be great to see him come back and join the CMC, even just for a while, but I'd say he's got the slimest chances of all the picks here.

9. Button Mash
Why he moved up: Button Mash only really moved up because Tender Taps moved down. I know some people would still be mad that Rumble got official interactions with the CMC after the cease and desist sent to JanAnimations about three and a half years ago, but I think if they found a good voice for him, in time people would come around.

8. Featherweight
Why he moved down: Seems like the colts aren't getting much love this time around. It'd be interesting to see Featherweight again, seeing as Scootaloo was at least in "Parental Glideance" into photography. And Featherweight could also bring up a potential jealousy plot for Scootaloo, though a candidate who appears higher on the list could do the same.

7. Ruby Pinch
Why she moved up: The CMC were seen talking with Berry Punch in the background during "Celestial Advice", and then in "It Isn't the Mane Thing About You", Berry Punch got a minor speaking role. It seems like the headcanon of her being an alcoholic has been smashed (if you'll pardon the pun) thought the chances of her being an actual one in a children's show were slim to none at best. But all the same, if Ruby Pinch is indeed her daughter (and not just a pallet swap of Dinky Doo), there's the possibility of addressing the issue of an overprotective parent, without going to the extreme extent of "Somepony to Watch Over Me".

6. Twist
Why she stayed the same: Since there's the still fleeting possibility that her VA might come back to Vancouver, since she's good friends with Diamond and Silver's VAs (and thus unlikely to be recasted), she gets to hold onto her spot here. All in all though, there's not much to say other than the hope that bringing her back in any way, shape, or form, would clear up any speculation about why Apple Bloom stopped hanging out with Twist. I really don't want to believe it was because Twist got her cutie mark before Apple Bloom did.

5. Skedaddle
Why he was added: The only newcomer on this list, Skedaddle's adorableness is certainly a big factor in why he should be considered for a possible CMC member, but there's also the fact that he had lots of interactions with Rumble and Pipsqueak in "Marks and Recreation", and he was the most noticeable new blank flank at the camp (though that's not saying much when most of the new colts and fillies introduced never got a speaking line). If he had more of a role and gave me more to talk about, maybe he'd be higher.

4. Pipsqueak
Why he moved up: Well, his voice actor's starting to reach that point where he really can't sound like a little boy anymore, so it might be time to give Pip his cutie mark and let him at least begin to grow up. And who better to help him accomplish such tasks, than the Cutie Mark Crusaders? He moved up specifically because of his big role in "Marks and Recreation", he may have gotten overshadowed by Rumble and Skedaddle, but Pip had some cutie mark frustrations of his own to air. He brings up a very valid concern about what happens if you can't seem to do anything, even though everyone's supposed to be good at something.

3. Silver Spoon
Why she moved down: At least Diamond Tiara got a non-speaking cameo appearance this season, poor Silver Spoon got absolutely nothing. And joining the Cutie Mark Crusaders is just one of the many possibilities that could be explored to give her more of her own character. Heck, we still don't know what she thinks of the CMC, or whether she knows about Diamond Tiara's home life.

2. Rumble
Why he moved up: "Marks and Recreation" is all but begging for Rumble to join the CMC, particularly if they plan to have the CMC interact with Starlight at all (which I hope they do). I could see him being even more aggressive in pursuit of a solution, than even Apple Bloom or Scootaloo, and thus causing him to butt heads with Sweetie Belle (or even Scootaloo if things got really heated, strangely enough it seems there were quite a few ships involving Sweetie Belle and Rumble at one point). On top of that, he can do everything Featherweight can do, but better, since he has actual experience and chemistry with the CMC instead of requiring the writers to have to work from scratch.

1. Diamond Tiara
Why she stayed the same: There's really no need to repeat myself, Diamond Tiara joining the CMC either temporarily or permantely would be amazing and would go a long way towards changing up their group dynamic. She deserves far better than a non-speaking cameo. And now that Starlight and Discord's redemption arcs seem to have more or less wrapped up, I think it's time to shift the focus from Trixie (who doesn't seem to want her redemption if it means having to work for it) to Diamond Tiara, particularly if the focus is going to continue to be on the mane six/seven/eight as teachers. Heck, why not bring back Twilight Time and have Diamond Tiara attend a session with the CMC?

I would personly like to See Dinky Join the CMC, shes one character that I like, she's close to being as awesome as Scoots.
