ALTERNATE UNIVERSE:
The AU tag is due to Changelings, instead of just absorbing love, they have to bite a pony to suck it out. This can also be done in various ways, as seen throughout the story. Changelings can also very clearly share affection if they are with one pony for extended periods of time. It also helps them pick out their prey. Changelings most of the time will not act on affection, but hunger. In this universe, they need quite a bit more love to survive, or they will starve.
