The Sound of Silence, the teaser

Personally, I think it would be filled with the cries, threats, and lamentations of deprived readers.

    Anyway!

    Bronycon

I know so many of you have been waiting for something - anything - from me, and this likely wasn't it. Buuuuuut, I am at Bronycon, so if you're here, you can yell at me in person. Yes, I'll happily welcome that.

What I've been doing? I'll reserve that for after LineCon.

As ever, I'll probably be at Quills and Sofas a bunch, with occasional dips for Pokemon, or something.

Welcome! · 11:36pm Oct 16th, 2012

Welcome to my first followers! And Congratulations Cortex Repository for being the brave soul to take the initial leap! I welcome you all to my little corner of this website. I suppose I should have drinks and snacks to celebrate. Why isn't Pinkie in this dimension when you really need her?

Of course, now I'm a bit intimidated. I'll admit that having people watching my every move makes me now more worried that what I'm doing won't be up to snuff. Before people actually like something I only had to build it as best I could, and then just had to hope that my efforts would be appreciated. Since some have shown their approval, NOW I have to continue living up to the expectations I've managed to build. I, um, hope I can... It makes me want to borrow Fluttershy's hiding-bush. Just a bit.

I'm also glad to see the travesty that is "To Love a Pony" actually being enjoyed. Fanfics like this don't often end well, and probably aren't a good idea for beginner writers like me, but it's a story exploring a question that has been bothering me for a while -

Would it actually be Okay to fall in love with a pony?

Arddun Lleuad provides a lot of my motivation. It felt much more realistic an interpretation of a human-pony relationship. Plus both it and its sequel were incredibly touching. Through the Eyes of Another Pony was another because it explores the build up and final acceptance, though I felt that the main character was a bit too easy-going about the whole issue. What actually prompted me to delve in to this was Harmless Shenanigans(?) with Princess Luna and the line "Ah screw it. I just sexed with a horse and it was goooood. I don't care," Too many fics just gloss over the whole issue like that. That set me to exploring the issue.

That said, I'm very curious. I want everyone willing to answer this question to take a good couple minutes to think before answering: If you knew that, in real life, a human and a pony were involved, how would you feel about that?

Aye serdadu.

Arddun Lleuad was a great story, and I rise my glass to you for reading it and being touched as well by it.

The others, well, yeah.

To answer your question,

Would it actually be Okay to fall in love with a pony?

Well...

I have no idea.

I am ok with the whole thing, but I tend to overlook morals a lot.

If you include them, everything changes.

Multiple cultures, religions, and the very way human civilisation has shaped prevents us, as a whole, from saying a definitive YES, though there will be other individuals like me that would wholeheartedly answer that question with a positive reply.

So yeah. The whole of human population: No.

Me: Yes.

That's all I can tell you now. I am no philosopher to delve on such matters, but I might as well try.

Love,

-Cortex Repository

Yeah, I'm gonna go with the fact that I'm pretty tolerant, especially if I have no idea it's happening; first question would be to ensure that the pony was sentient, and then I suppose to check that they're both okay with the reprecussions. After that, well, I guess it'll come down to whether it just strikes a weird note with me - after all, I end up avoiding virtually all m/m fiction, no matter the quality, just because I'm uncomfortable with the idea, even though I really like f/f and f/futa (not shemale though). I wouldn't denounce their relationship or hate them or anything, we'd probably just drift apart if I couldn't find a way to get around my hang-up.

TL;DR: Yes. I might end up asking them to keep the PDA down, but yes.

Hm I'm curious in those stories I think I might give a read as for your question at first id do a double take and say "repeat that?" Disgust would be farthest from my mind this I know I'm a very tolerent person maybe unaturally so, I think I can proudly say there isn't a relationship were I would say "dude that's disgusting" though I do prefer things above others I know I wouldn't look down another just because they like something I don't like as much, anyway after the double take I would have genuine curiousity on the relationship if there's no sentience in the pony I can say as long as the owner doesn't hurt the pony I wouldn't mind them having a relationship (love is more then just sex, its a connection) and if the pony did have sentience and knew what he/she was doing then even more reason to say yes hell if a friend of mine said he loved a sentient alien and that alien loved them back I would do everthing I could so they could live happily ^^ I'm probably one the most tolerant people you'll know :P so I hope that answered your question

I suppose I should clarify that my assumption for this question is that, regardless of whether its ponies or another species, both parties are sentient. I'm not delving in to the alternative.

(love is more then just sex, its a connection)

It's funny you should say that. When I started writing down my initial musings for this story, a phrase very much like that was the very first thing I wrote down.

Also, Genesis, I urge you to try using more punctuation. The solid block of thought is expressive, but hard to sort out.

Oh? I didn't expect that. Well if that's what you have as a mindset as you write, then I know it'll be a good romance throughout the rest of your story. And I'm eager to read more soon.

I'm curious, what's your outlook on the idea? Care to share?

And one more Quick question, did you do your own cover art? Because that mare is quite beautifully drawn, and I must know the artist.

:twilightsheepish: hehe woops, my bad sorry, I'll TRY to fix my habits on comments no complete promises though.
Its abit hard to do this on a tablet, rather then a computer.

So I hope what I've written down, is much easier to read.

Don't call your story a travesty. I'm enjoying it and you make me feel stupid if you call it that way. :duck:

Much easier to read! Believe me, after using a phone with the barest of texting capabilities for over 5 years, I appreciate the effort.

Since you were wondering.
Lust and love stem from the same desire, but there is a key difference - love is tempered by consideration for the wellbeing of its object. -me

There are a number of reasons for that thought. People like Somber and WandererD have posted writing blogs about "what not to do as a My Little Pony fanfiction writer." Well, guess what. I'm doing some of them anyways. There are reasons behind my choices - which I'm hoping make up for what I'm doing - but if people can't find them, then I'll consider the story a success!

467772 :twilightoops: yeesh, that's pretty rough! XD
I'm guessing that's one of the first things you've written down, when thinking of the story? Your quote compared to mine, is like you said, there pretty similar. And I like it. (^w^)v

Wait, you broke rules to writing a FIM fic? :rainbowhuh: well if you have, then I didn't notice anything stick out. :derpytongue2: so you win a cookie! :D xD

I know there's standards in writing, even fanfics. But if you can't have fun writing what you want there's little point in getting in this creative hobbie. Not all of us can be as good as TAW, RagingSemi or another talented writer. Only the effort of putting quality and polish in our writing will give us some merit to get some kind of fulfillment, at least when we start writting :unsuresweetie:.

I may be shocked and slightly confused at first, after all, we are 'wired' to be attracted to members of our own species, first and foremost. However, if the two parties are consenting, mature, individuals, I have no right to speak against it. Heck, I've even thrown the idea around in my head a few times myself... I think there is the possibility there of loving a pony, it really just depends on how foreign they are mentally?

Don't forget there is the other half of that discussion, would/ could a pony fall in love with a Human?

I answer your question,

Would it actually be Okay to fall in love with a pony?

with more questions:

Why wouldn't it be?
If you shouldn't judge a book by the cover, and should always remember that beauty is only skin deep, then shouldn't interspecies romance be equally possible?

After all, as long as sentience is present, then why shouldn't you love?
