So, first, let me apologize for how long this has taken. I can't really make that right. Also let me say sorry to all the Fracture fans out there.
You know, the both of you.
It's with a heavy heart that I've come to decide that Fracture is cancelled/complete.
What's that mean? It means I always told myself I'd "eventually" come back to finish it over the years but never did, and that I've now decided to lift some of the ideas I had originally intended for Fracture for my next story. It wouldn't feel right using the ideas while leaving this hanging, so I've dug through my Pastebin, found the last four chapters of this fic I never uploaded, and retooled the end of the last one. Fracture now has "an" ending, just not the originally planned one. Hopefully that offers people some closure.
This entire fic was the product of a period of stress in my life as well as trying very VERY hard to fit a square peg in a round hole. Those two factors combined into a giant surge of irritation for me which has come through in the fic, which probably explains why it sounds like it was written by someone more schizophrenic than the main character.
Below are is the ORIGINAL planned end for Fracture, do not read if you also want to stay pure for my next fic, as some ideas will be lifted.
Anonymous and his split personas within his mind, Green, Blue, and Red, originally stole the Bell of Grogar after he was killed (and in fact still does on the Pastebin version, I can't be arsed to edit all that again) ran away from his memories of Sweet Apple Acres in the final chapter. Anonymous continued on his self destructive adventures and eventually came into possession of a powerful blade I affectionately called "Disc-sword", a sword with the spirit of Discord shoved into it which did not do any wonders for his mental health. Anonymous traveled with the sword and eventually ran afoul of Queen Chrysalis, who saved Anonymous from near death after a job gone wrong and took him into her hive. Inside the hive, Chrysalis stuck her gross bug fingers into Anon's brain where she suppressed his prime personality. That was a bad idea. Red took over Anonymous's body and fed the spirit of Discord in the blade. Red!Anonymous then began a mass crusade against out of the Badlands at the head of Chrysalis's army while she assumed human form to emulate his power and began a physical relationship with him during this time, that threw Prime!Anonymous further into despair as he was functionally a captive within his own mind. Red eventually grew too wild and insatiable for Chrysalis to control and, with the power of Disc-sword, Red subjugated the Changelings and twisted them to his own purposes, which shifted from "conquest" to "burn everything" in the hopes of getting back at the world for the death of Mac. Prime!Anonymous, locked within his own mind, eventually drew strength and courage from his pleasant memories of his life before, stoked to the surface by Chrysalis. PrimeAnon battled with Red in the center of his mind with the aid of Blue and Green and eventually burnt Red out, and with it his anger at the world. PrimeAnon awoke to find the Changling hive either dead or retreating away and wandered back to Ponyville where the story basically ended where it ended now, with Anonymous no longer having his hatred and spite present in his thoughts and wanting to live as the person he was before Mac died, cue credits.
Yeah, can you see why that wouldn't really have worked and how the mindset behind such a story was a poisonous one? I can. God, I sounded like a 13 year old. Most of the ideas above and the songs I was going to use for this have either been cannibalized by other stories, mostly Am I Evil, or died when my old computer shorted. Again, I really can't apologize enough for how this story was handled, hopefully this offers you all some closure. Keep an eye out for the (hopefully) far better execution of this idea coming "soon" titled Prose Equus.
I've had this on my Read Later list for a long time to wait for it to hit Completed status. I'm normally a real fan of your stuff, but you're right. This was a pretty difficult read even before that ending. It nails a lot of the traditional edgelord tropes like a bingo card, opening up on the MC killing things in the Everfree, the main cast adoring him, and talking about how cool he is based on pre-story events. And that's just the first few paragraphs.
I completely look forwards to further writing from you, but it's probably for the best you put the nail in this thing's coffin. Stay awesome, and keep writing.

My irritation wasn't that it was traditional edgelord stuff so much as it was just...TIRING. I felt like I wasn't having any fun making things work and things just weren't working.
Part of the edgelord stuff is, I think, because the initial idea for this was adapted from an entirely non FiM idea but I totally cut off the starting parts of that idea to get to the "meat and potatoes" which is the mental breakdown. That also means that I had to hurry the fuck up and GET to that and I suppose I fell into some cliches along the way. Let it be a lesson to never try and fit two things that aren't working together, kids! And don't write under mental stress/while in a funk you can't shake. I dumped this story to do Father of the Night which was far easier for me to make work, though this story did start a period time where making content was just incredibly difficult for me that I'm still in the process of shaking off.
