Remebrance Day 2017 · 4:10am Nov 11th, 2017
May we never forget their sacrifice, nor forbear to give them the honour due.
May we ever remember that we live because they died.
And on this solemn day, may we recall their noble deeds.
Lest we forget.
MacDonnell on the Heights - Stan Rogers

A noble and forgotten Canadian hero. A lawyer brought into the British army to serve as aide-de-camp to the legendary Major General Sir Isaac Brock, he was thrust into command after the General was killed scaling Queenston Heights, October 13, 1812. MacDonnell rallied the disheartened Redcoats and militiamen, and led a second assault, nearly recapturing the Redan Battery before he was mortally wounded.
His sacrifice is often overlooked, since he is wedged between Brock's heroic death and the eventual British-Canadian-Native victory that afternoon. But he was a brave man nonetheless, and deserves a place in the Legend of the Battle of Queenston Heights.
To all those who have served and sacrificed in obscurity! May your honour outlive all memory, even unto the ending of the world!
