NaPoWriMo Status Update: #1

Exam tomorrow, exam Friday...

If I can set the right amount of time aside, then I should be able to keep this up. I've been getting kicked around a bit by classes recently, so I haven't been able to write as much.

I am at 4,675 words to total out tonight, and hopefully I'll be able to get a nice 2k added to it tomorrow!
(I haven't been able to write much for NaNoWriMo so far :P )

For a teaser excerpt, a scene that I wrote a while ago which was actually the seed-idea for the story. May keep it, may change it. All that matters is words on a page! Editing can come by in January!

Spike and Applejack treaded silently through the crystal foyer, their conversation hushed whispers.

"How long's this been goin'on Spike?
"About a week now. She doesn't know I'm here, I told her I was going to your farm. It's the doors, the doors are doing something.
"What do you mean it's about the doors?"
"Shh."
They rounded the corner into the hallway, the dragon holding out an arm to stop the pony. Twilight stood motionless in the center of the hallway, staring at the wall with her head cocked. The room was quiet except for the sound of breathing.

"Okay, stay here and watch.”
"Spike!" Applejack hissed in a whisper. "What're you doing?"

The young dragon sprinted forward, claws slapping against the crystal floor. The mare was stock still as Spike shoulder shoulder-checked her.

Twilight fell to the floor in a sprawl, without a noise. It took her scant moments to stand back up, getting to her hooves in a single fluid motion. Her eyes never left the wall, her head never moved from staring straight ahead.

“What’s, what’s- huh?” Applejack whispered.

“Just stay there, watch.”

The dragon padded back down the hall to the foyer, opened the door quietly, then slammed it with all his might. The solid clunk of the door hitting against the frame vibrated Applejack’s hooves as Spike called out.
"Twilight, I'm back!"

Twilight's face animated, her posture dropping from rigid to relaxed and friendly. She turned from facing towards the wall and spotted her friend.

"Hey Applejack, when'd you get here? Do you want me to get you anything?"

The alicorn's smile was wide, genuine. It sent shivers down Applejack's back.
