Stranger Than Fanfiction

First off, I know it was too much to hope for, but the normalacy of this episode was sad. I was hoping for something truely out there. But this episode had some of the best Rainbow Dash faces ever.

Here:

I do wonder at the fact no one recognizes one of the multi-saviors of Equestria. I mean, Rainbow has a stained glass window in Canterlot. She's the newest Wonderbolt. She has more mane colors than Celestia. It's kinda strange that, you know, only Wind Wind knows about that.

Daring Do planning to hide among her cosplayers does rank as one of the best moments in the show. Let's be honest: that's an amazing plan.

Quibble being right and picking the right door and being an asshole about it is pretty great. I like Quibble. He's my kinda asshole. And then he ruins it by being all "understanding" and "reconciliation".

It was a fun episode, but I'm unlikely to get a lot of material out of it. As far Daring Do episodes go, it's the best since the the Rainbow broke her wing. Probably because it focused more on the awesome pegasus and less on the recolor. Daring's neat, in concept, but I really don't have near the connection with R63 Indiana Jones that I do with Wondercloud Lightningbutt.

Working my way steadily through the season. I keep getting sidetracked doing things like the image pseudo-linked below for people.

Agreed, a fun episode, but little takeaway. To me, it’s still one of the better episodes in S6... though I don’t really mean that as a compliment.

Also... I feel like it’s just me, but I really hate this trend of weird, cartoony facial expressions shot from odd angles (such as the last image) in the more recent seasons. One of the big appeals of the show (at least, to me) has always been how clean, well-designed, and undeniably cute the characters designs are, and these extreme, Spongebob-ish faces just ruin all that for me. Maybe I’m just an old grump, though.
