Why is it that every Pentium 2 system I've worked with always has the same problems?
No matter what I've done, every Pentium 2/i686 based PC that I've worked with always seems to have a problem that ends up with lines upon lines of I/O errors when all I'm trying to do is boot a freakin' live CD that works with i586 machines.
And yes, I got another scrap heap of a computer from the thrift store. I'm honestly more interested in the individual parts than the full system, but it never hurts to try and restore it first. According to the spec sheet the thing originally came with Windows 95. Only problem? Win95 doesn't recognize the CD drive, even though it booted using that drive. I suspect the same problem is occurring as the one that keeps borking the Linux Live CDs that I've been trying to use. The only one that actually ever booted was an older Puppy Linux release, but even then it was horribly unstable.
Either way, I'm pretty sure I just have bad luck with 686-class machines.
