I've been doing a lot of talking and thinking about my relationship with My Little Pony in the last few weeks/months/other time period. Trying to come to terms and shit with how I feel. It's 4:49 AM and I've been up for the last 4 hours watching netflix on hotel wifi.
And I'm glad.
If you're reading this, you probably know that I don't,or at least try not to, just say random shit without purpose. I was watching the bits of Season 4 and some of 5 I haven't ever got around to seeing. And I had fun. This probably seems dumb, but that's a massive shift for me. Because last time I was doing this, I wasn't.
I've been talking with Cloudy about stories I want to write. I'm scared to death that mentioning this here is going to kill my ability to do just that, but I'm also kinda sleep deprived and probably making iffy decisions. There is no liquor, however, so I can't blame that :V

I vividly remember at one point I was annoyed with the random references like this. I also vividly remember not being annoyed first. I have little to no idea what changed. I still think I was unhappy, and I don't mean no happy, I mean the opposite of happy, back in season 4. Probably with the S3 ending, but also the changes in 'my' show. Anyway, that's analysis for another day.
Oh. I should thank Lego or whoever. I think the preview for the MLP movie I saw while taking my kid to see ninjago (no, it was too shitty to get capitals. Capitals are for winners.) made me remember everything I loved about this show. Apparently, most of that is still there.
I told Cloudy (and probably mentioned it before) that I do still have one story I want to tell. I still have issues to work out, both technical and personal with this story and writing in general. Feeling silly and foolish and stupid and wrong and regretful about things is only part of it. (Things = everything to do with MLP, writing, and creative pursuits in general.) So I can't promise to actually produce a thing I'm confident enough in to share, but that doesn't kill my desire.

I will admit there are episodes I do not care for (some that others seem to think are great but that is a story for another day) but there are some fun episodes that I really liked.
I just saw "Secrets and Pies" (I know early BAD ME) and I found it to be quite fun. It was also full of scenes that will tickle a PinkieDash fans fancy.
If you do write that story I will be sure to read it. It is nice seeing some authors that I used to read all the time coming back with some new material.
You know you still have all your old PR cohorts who would very willingly give you whatever help you needed to tell your story the best it can be told.

I'm not even going to attempt to see leaked stuff until I catch up.
I know I've had (and sometimes still have) issues with how Pinkie is written in a lot of these episodes. I really hate when she's only used to escalate a problem (Filli Vanilli) and cheap laughs. BUt whatevs. Of the stuff I hadn't seen last time, Swedish Chef Breezy McAngerson was probably a favorite. As is "hearts as strong a horses". I can't decide if that's the dumbest or most clever lyric in the entire history of television.

Yea I did not like how Pinkie was used at the end of Filli Finili either. Even for the way Pinkie is sometimes unable to understand somebody elses's view point it seemed a bit too much especially since in other instances she is very understanding of specifically how FLuttershy is very sensitive.

Eh. I don't actually have TV anymore and usually end up waiting for stuff to hit netflix. I'm still in s5 anyway. I will say, I'm still not looking forward to Glimmer being a character. Does Hasbro still leave youtube episodes alone, or will I need to find a website to catch up?

I can usually find many episodes on Youtube (that is where I saw "secrets and Pies" for instance though it was split into parts) but it can be annoying t find all the parts in order sometimes.
Yea Glimmer is not character I have any fondness for. She could be interesting but she was most interesting to me as an antagonist where her different values and worldview made her interesting. when contrasted with everybody else but as part of the protagonist team they do not really use her that well. The thing is they can do it as Sunset Shimmer has become actually an interesting character but to me Glimmer on the whose has not. Granted I am also miffed by how they keep eliminating antagonists left and right all the time. Sometimes it is nice to have some villains in a story.

Well Shimmer did come back for a small amount of time in an EQG mini episode but I was just thinking more of how she is used in EQG.
Ah, too bad. The Lego Movie was quite good and the Lego Batman movie was less so but still enjoyable, so I had some hopes that, despite my not giving two shakes about the Ninjago toys or whatever it's pushing, it would still be alright.
