Skylanders Academy: Season 2 - It's Surprisingly Good · 5:29pm Oct 9th, 2017
Last week I posted an announcement exclaiming my excitement to see Cynder become a character in Skylanders Academy -- which mounted up a lot of hype for the show's second season. The only reason why I ever got into it in the first place is because I was excited to see Spyro make his first television debut -- and as the main character, like how it should have been since Spyro's Adventure. The show had really good, colorful animation, a talented cast, and it didn't take itself too seriously. And although season one ended on an interesting note, I was shocked at how... intense season 2 was.
No matter what your stance is on the Sklander games, this show is something really easy to enjoy if you give it time. The characters might seem watered-down at first, but over time you slowly learn more about them. The debut of Cynder, for example, seemed lackluster at first, but by the end of the episode I was more than excited to see her becoming a recurring character -- and from where the show is going, you can tell that she will eventually, maybe in season 3, become a possible main character (Yes, they do bring in the Malefore story, but this time Cynder is his daughter); she's even listed as a main character on the Wikipedia page.
Season 2 did a really good job on setting up for the future story of the show, and it especially did a good job at setting up for season 3 -- WHICH BETTER NOT TAKE AN ENTIRE YEAR TO HAPPEN COME OUT! -- by ending on an intense cliffhanger and with a lot of promises for the season to come. I didn't expect to get as invested with the show as I did, but dog-diggity I can't blame it for doing an excellent job.
Whether you're a Skylanders or Spyro fan, or you're someone who's just looking for something to binge on Netflix, I highly recommended you check out Skylanders Academy. It's actually worth watching.
Now, to hold back my hype for season 3, I will be watching one episode a week to count down the days.
Fun Fact: Felica Day (Pear Butter) voices Cynder.
I really want to watch this show because I love the Spyro games. XD

You should be able to do it right now. It's a Netflix Orignal, and we all know that Netflix Originals are really good.
4692544 I honestly haven't seen any Netflix originals. :L But they sound good.

Yeah, since Netflix is a website and not an actual television channel, they don't fall in line with networks or censorship, so they're practically free to do whatever they want. That's the main reason why Netflix Originals are usually so good.
4692548 Do you happen to know any good Netflix original series off of the top of your had? Or where I could find a list of them?

Netflix should have an entire category dedicated to Netflix Originals. Of course Skylanders Academy is a decent example, at least in the category of CGI family-friendly shows (probably the best in my opinion). There’s also The Aventures of Puss’N’Boots and All Hail King Julien (it’s mostly alright, but there’s enough slapstick humor to keep it entertaining. If you’re looking for something for a more mature audience though, F is for Family is a really great show. Although if we’re talking about Netflix Originals here, probably Netflix’s best show right now is Bojack Horseman. It’s just one of those shows where the writing gets better every season. It may take you an entire season to get into it, but by the end of season you will have a whole new perspective of it, and it’s brilliant.
Some shows that I haven’t seen but have heard a lot about:
House of Cards
Narcos
Some shows that I've seen:
Arrested Development (although it wasn’t originally a Netflix Original)
Little Witch Academia (characters are annoying and/or obnoxious, but the animation and music score are very vibrant; also, there’s this one gothic character who makes the show bearable enough to watch)
Make Happy (Bo Burnham’s stand-up special)
Pretty much anything stand-up
Just to name a few.
4693829 Cool! I will have to check some of these shows out. :)
