I write pony words. Millions of them. Some people actually think they might be worth reading. I am very thankful for that. Also, I have a Patreon now?

    So...

As many of you well know, I'm a father of three. A four-year-old, a two-year-old, and a one-year-old. It's pretty great. Can be difficult, but overall a pretty big blessing. How my wife takes care of three kids five days a week is beyond me, as I have a hard time taking care of them two days a week when my wife goes off to work.

    So yeah...

    Editing help

Yes, I'm calling out for editors again. I want to submit a story to the Cozy Glow contest, and I want to make sure that the story I just wrote for it is good, or "wow, that's a jumbled mess of ideas, far too mean, and the ending is terrible."

Let me know if you'd like to help. Any extra eyes would be highly appreciated.

Just saw the new Blade Runner · 2:38am Oct 8th, 2017

It was really good. It's going to win the Visual Effects Oscar, alongside probably cinematography, sound editing, and sound mixing. Maybe score, too, but Dunkirk might be there, too.

The trailers made it look bad. Really bad. It didn't look like a Blade Runner movie. I'm happy to say that the actual movie was a Blade Runner film. I liked it a lot. Maybe even more than the original. And I do like the original.

So go see it.

While I go cash my $1.56 check from the director to promote the film.

I still need to watch the original Blade Runner all the way through.

That seems awfully sabotaging that you put this up on the weekend the My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic Movie starts, even without at least talking about this one first.
You should keep your priorities better in check. A lot depends on the My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic Movie, this isn't the right moment to give any other movie a boost.

I saw them both, although going with the local brony group and renting out an entire showing just for ourselves to watch the MLP Movie made it special.

The point I'm making is that he shouldn't advertise another movie and basically draw attention from the My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic Movie away with this, cause it could hurt the movie if anyone who is undecided about watching it should read this and then think, like, "Meh, I rather watch Blade Runner, at least here I have the recommendation from my favourite author that this is a good movie, so I can say with certainty that this one will be worth the ticket price."
If you watched both and supported the My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic Movie, all the power to you, but this doesn't change what I'm saying about the recommendation here.
It is awful timing and overall just a bad idea to draw even more attention to another movie that already gets hyped up like crazy because of nostalgia anyway, especially considering what site we are here.
Blade Runner can wait, enough people watch that anyway, it doesn't need a "Go watch it!" blog entry, but the My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic Movie needs all the support it can get, so it becomes successful despite the competition it's put up against and brings us more seasons that way.
This here seems, as I said, awfully sabotaging of the movie.

Cool, good to know. Blade Runner is without a doubt my favorite movie, so I've had some worries.

I... I had just seen Blade Runner. I also highly enjoyed the pony movie. I suppose I can make a blog post about that tomorrow, but the entire site is making blog posts about the movie. I didn't mean to sabotage anything. Box office numbers haven't really come in for the pony movie yet.

Don’t listen to him man do your thing. I often enjoy your movie reviews and recommendations (especially your predictions for the oscars every year). The MLP movie was decent enough but the new Blade Runner was a masterpiece. That NEEDS to be mentioned.

4690860
So, you’re saying because two movies came out at the same time and you liked one of them, that means that nobody should watch the other one?

4690894
Your point is flawed. You’re assuming that if he doesn’t say that the my Little pony movie was good that basically nobody’s gonna watch it and it’s going to completely fail. The thing that actually happened is he saw blade runner and he liked it and he knew that lots of other people had already made blog posts about the my Little pony movie so he didn’t really feel the need to also say something about it because he knew that there was already people talking about it and he had seen Blade Runner and he wanted to talk about that.

4691029
Sorry bout the confusion, mate. This little bloke thought that by saying you enjoyed a movie it would devastate the other movie. Thinkin that, no offense, one person has the sway over basically everyone on this site.
I mean, lots of people have already seen it, including me, and I liked them both. I’m not going to say whether I liked one more than the other, because I don’t want stuff like that to happen, but I will say that they’re both good films and if you feel up to it (this is more directed at people reading my comment rather than the person I’m replying to) go ahead and watch them both.
I think happened here is that he only read the Blade Runner part and then stopped there because his little brain thought, “Hey, wait a minute. This guy isn’t promoting the MLP movie, he is promoting Blade Runner! He is obviously trying to sabotage that movie and make it so that people will only see blade runner!”
Anyways, I think that his comment came from a misunderstanding, and maybe if he understands what he didn’t, then I can have something to say that will make me look like a good and cheerful person and gather lots of upvotes.

Let’s take a look from the other side!

People already know about the my Little pony movie. It’s been an advertising everywhere on YouTube or at least from my end it is. That means that people are going to be hyped about the movie and are going to want to see it.

So now we already have a bunch of people who are going to see it.
If that’s true, then to my little pony movie can wait because if Bronywriter talks about how good that movie was instead of Blade Runner he’s going to sabotage it, and people already weren’t going to want to see it because they were thinking that it would just take away from the original and just try to be a cash grab or something like that.

So, you see. Your argument goes both ways. If he wants to talk about blade runner because he liked it that’s OK. If he wants to Talk about blade runner and not the other movie because he knew that people had already promoted the other movie and he didn’t want to just add to it, that’s OK as well.

I'm saying that the priority should be to support the My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic Movie. The box office success will determine if there are, first, more movies one day and, more importantly, second, if the show continues on beyond Season 9. If the movie would blow, then it won't.
With BronyWriter's reputation of rating movies here, it could very well happen that someone rather puts his money into the Blade Runner movie, instead of the My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic Movie.
The movie holds a lot of importance and much depends on its success, there shouldn't be taken any risk of overshadowing it by giving another movie a boost.

4691029

I didn't say you intended to sabotage it, but that this is the effect it can have on it. Waiting with talking about Blade Runner for a while and talking about the My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic Movie instead would have been a wiser move.

4691216 I understand what you're saying, but I feel you're taking this a bit too seriously. I'm pretty sure you'll find that the people on this My Little Pony fanfiction site have already made their decisions about whether to see the movie. A brief blog about a different movie in a totally different genre will very likely have zero effect on the box office outcome of the Pretty Pastel Ponies in Peril Movie. :raritywink:

4691282

I don't agree. It's nothing that should be downplayed. If that movie blows, the show will most likely blow up, too, which is a risk we should not take, not even slightly.
Posting that Blade Runner entry right now is morally questionable with the importance the movie holds. He should have waited a few weeks until the movie's out of cinema.

4691765 Morally questionable? Wow, well you're obviously emotionally tied to your opinion, which does not make for a convincing argument—it only shows how deeply you feel about this, which is not the same thing. I think I'll just take it as given that we'll agree to disagree.

4691216
Priority should be to support whatever he wants to support
It’s not like if he doesn’t support it that the whole movie will fail and die

4690894

Timing could have been better, but let us not forget a few natural disasters that happened recently and are still happening (Nate) that wrecked a nice movie weekend with the kids. It could explain why Blade Runner is also floundering when it was predicted to make +50 million. People have more important things to spend their money on than movies, like repairing the house and things.

4691894

I am not emotionally tied to my opinion. But there is a significant need for the movie to do good at box office, a plain and cold fact.
The reason why Hasbro wanted a movie is obviously that it wants to expand the franchise and lure in new audiences to the show, to make MLP: FiM even more successful and popular, so that the toys and merchandise that are based on the show get advertised to a lot more people.
It also wants to step into the movie business, hence the creation of Allspark Studios, and the My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic Movie is basically the spearhead into this, especially after the failed Jem movie.
Getting a movie to be a success in cinemas is a huge undertaking, especially a movie that has to fight against the stigma of the early generations of My Little Pony that some people still hold up.
Hasbro has obviously very high hopes in the movie and great plans with it. If these plans fail, because the movie does not do well at box office, then Hasbro will think twice and might start to doubt the future of the franchise. Especially considered that Hasbro's movie fail with the Transformers movie back in the days probably still stings the company quite a bit, not to mention the aforementioned Jem movie. I don't have to explain what this would mean for the show.
I am not emotional and I'm not stating my opinion. That, if the movie blows, the show will likely blow up, too, is, as I said, just a plain and cold fact. The reality for the show will look grim if the movie isn't successful enough, there is no way around this, no matter how much one might fool themselves into believing there is.
It's something I'm viewing as realistically as it is and everyone should. If the movie doesn't do well enough for Hasbro's expectations, we're all in dark times.
Something like that blog entry here is not something we should afford doing, in sight of the risk that is there.

I saw it today. It was fantastic in every respect. Much better than the MLP movie
