Had several bits I got annoyed with, but overall was pretty good. Worth the trip and price of a ticket. Well, as much as any movie is worth the price of movie tickets these days.
The important bit: I think this movie is evidence that carrot top is a secret agent. I swear I saw her but with a different cutie mark in the opening bad guy entrance and I don't remember seeing her anywhere in the ranks of the captured ponies.

I really do wonder when they started making this. Like, did Tempest steal Starlight's backstory or did Starlight steal Tempest's?
Also, one again Princess Celestia is useless. As was Princess Luna and Princess Cadance. Like, worse than usual. Not even futile alicorn lasers this time. Well, Cadance managed a shield briefly.
Don't lie: that "important bit" was just to make sure that I personally read this blogpost, wasn't it?
Given Starlight's rather questionable character design overall, I'd say the latter.

Well, the perfect spot for her in the movie would have her taken out in the initial evil attack and not seen or heard from for the rest of the movie.
I believe someone on the crew has said that writing for the movie began before writing for S5.

I'd believe if it started right after Princess Twilight happened. This would fit near perfectly in the after season 3 finale slot the first Equestria Girls movie was in.
