    I Live!

But I’m on a buttload of drugs and am going to pass out.

Surgery went great, even better than expected. I’ll elaborate more later.

    Until next time!

Movie Thoughts (Spoiler-Free) · 4:02am Oct 7th, 2017

So I just got back from seeing the movie (and then going to Buffalo Wild Wings for wings and booze shortly thereafter). It was pretty fun. Since I went to a 6:50pm showing, I had one or two interactions with some youngin's and the parent(s) didn't find me creepy, so that was a plus, and even though there were a few happy shrieks from the target demographic, it didn't take away from the movie that much.

When it comes to the movie itself, I was happy that I went into it only knowing about what was shown in the trailers, because there was a bunch of stuff that supposedly got leaked that I wasn't exposed to that I was glad to have seen for the first time. I liked the music, I liked the animation, I liked most of the characters, and there was a lot more action than usual (but nothing as DBZ-intense as the Tirek fight). Some of it was definitely cliche, but that's to be expected from a kids' movie, so I can't really complain. Aside from that, it was a little silly, and there were some fun cameos, but overall, unless you really want to avoid spoilers, if you're debating going to see it in the theater because either you don't want to be seen out there in public, you don't want to spend the money, or whatever other reason you may have, you could probably wait until it comes out on DVD/Netflix/bootleg/whatever. I personally didn't find it something that would be worth waiting in line overnight for, but that didn't make it a bad movie by any means. I've seen a few people saying it fell flat for them, and I totally understand that, but we do need to keep in mind who the target demographic is, folks. Despite their knowledge of the older audience's existence, I did not expect the writers to go all out to put in a ton of stuff just to appeal to us. There actually were quite a few things that caught my eye or made me go, "Ooooo, I like what they did with that!" so I'm really not all that disappointed in them.

If I was to give it a number rating, probably 7/10. Fun, silly, good music, and some interesting new stuff that hasn't been seen before, but some stuff could've been done better from an older demographic's standpoint.

I think that's it. For those of you definitely going to see it, have fun! For those of you that already have, hope you enjoyed!
