New IYGALL-Verse Story Out Soon (IMPORTANT BLOG POST)

Good news: I finally finished something fanfiction related over the weekend and am very close to sending it all you guys' way. Bad news: this is going to be a fair bit more complicated than any of you might be expecting. In fact, it could very well be the most controversial thing I've ever written. This week, I will be providing you with official IYGALL cut content.

New Let Somepony Love You Out Soon!

The Imperfect Storm draft took me longer than expected, but eventually, the global pandemic made me realize I had to get it done sooner or later. And so, I'm back on FiMFiction (for a limited time, at least, more about that in a bit), and ready to update my stories!

MLP Movie Thoughts (No Moselying No Spoilering Edition) · 2:51am Oct 6th, 2017

Pictured above: a sea Coco in her adorable habitat. Sea Cocos are far more energetic and rebellious than earth Cocos, but are no less determined and/or cute. See also sea Ember, a creature with a mysteriously powerful singing voice.

The premiere is finally here, everyone, and I managed to find a theater that was doing an advanced showing. While I really don't want to spoil anything until as many people see it as possible, here are some takes on it that shouldn't give anything away:
* The theater was about half-full, something I chalked up to A) it being an advanced showing and all and B) another nearby theater doing a brony meet-up on the same day. In any case, it was mainly adults with children there, and with myself included, there were only about four (?) bronies. Of those, there was only one guy: definitely a changing demographic in our little fandom. But, as a pegasister myself, I'm not complaining.
* Before the showing, I noticed that there was a Paging Doctor Sparkle fan in the audience! I told her a bit about my fics and she said she'd read a few of them. So if you ever see me out in the wild, please know: I am absolutely starstruck by people who read my stuff. It really makes me realize what an impact I have on everyone. (It made me almost, almost as excited as the movie itself.)
* Movie-wise: it's a bit more of a set of vignettes than a typical two-parter. Go to a different place, meet different characters, continue the adventure. It's different from what I was expecting, but pretty nice anyway.
* The characters themselves were really good, though I wish we spent a bit more time with them. Tempest (as I anticipated) was my favorite. My millennial self got real Shego vibes from her in the trailers and hoped she kept a bit of that vibe to her, and she did. Other standouts were the seapony royals and Capper.
* I could listen to Capper and Tempest's voices forever. Everyone brought their A-game for this, but those two were the standouts voice acting-wise.
* Some of the character personalities might surprise you a bit! Queen Novo in particular was a bit of a surprise, in a good way.
* Twi really surprised me. There's a plot in here that might cause some controversy about her (no spoilers), but I think it was well-done.
* Potential shipping fodder between Pinkie/Seastar and Novo/Celestia. Or stuff that could be construed as shippy. Twilight/Tempest also has potential for good stories.
* You can feel that orchestra in the songs! Good work as usual, and man, does Ingram know how to write a villain song!
* I would've liked a bit more from the Storm King, but meh. He was good in the parts he was in, but prices must be paid to have a Shego-esque strong villainess co-lead. I'd call him a mix of Tirek/Discord/Sombra (and, keeping with the Kim Possible references, a bit of Drakken).
* My headcanon is that, after Rara took a short hiatus from music, there was a huge battle for the Pony of Pop title. Songbird won the idol battle, but I did make an OC of one of the "losing" ponies, Charming Venus, who may or may not be part of a later story.
* Derpy's cameo is amazing. If you choose one spoiler not to know when you come into the theater, make sure it's this one. It's her best one yet.
* Spike's chance in the spotlight is a good one, too.
* I'm thoroughly impressed at all the ponies who did get cameos. It took all I had not to scream "Moondancer!" when she came across the screen. I get the feeling some of you might scream "Cheese Sandwich!" or other ponies.
* Considering we got a Coco background scene, I might write a IGYALL-verse oneshot about her reactions to the whole thing. Basically...they're not what you might expect. Also, I'm possibly thinking of calling what's now just the "IGYALL-verse" the "Pommelseed-verse" instead. It's a working title. :trixieshiftright:

BONUS EMERGENCY SPOILER SECTION--DO NOT BREAK GLASS UNTIL MLP MOVIE VIEWING

* Tempest and Trixie should be friends and tell each other about Ursa Minor adventures.
* The one thing I would've wanted would've been to see Tempest's cutie mark. I assume it's firework-related?
* Out of all the gosh darn things that almost made me cry in this freaking feels fest, seeing the Crusaders caged up for five seconds was the worst of all.
* And even then, Babs and Gabby are nowhere to be found. (Gabby would probably be flirting with Skystar if she was on the quest, anyway.)

Given what happens in the movie, I'm not sure whether to expect an uplifting story or a depressing one. Either way, I'm always eager to read more excellent stories featuring Coco Pommel. :twilightsheepish:

If you've seen that comic where Coco's working for Sombra and says "nope, still better than Suri," it's essentially that. A fic about how Coco has been through Suri, Mosely, and traffic jams and just thinks "I've seen worse." Obviously a pointless comedy.
