Friendship is Card Games: Kenbucky Roller Derby #2 & #3

We return to the cutthroat world of G5 roller derby, where Sunny’s trying her darndest to prove she’s more than just a casual skater… and has assembled one of the most ragtag teams of misfits this side of the Mighty Ducks in the process. Let’s see how the story’s developed from there.

    Swan Song

No, not mine. The Barcast's. The last call is currently under way, and if you want to hear my part in the grand interview lightning round, you can tune in at 4:20 Eastern/1:20 Pacific (about an hour from this posting.)

Yes, 4:20 on 4/20. No, I do not partake. Sorry to disappoint. :derpytongue2:

    Pest List

Just something I whipped together for fun one day, set to a possibly recognizable tune, all intended in good fun. And hey, given that I derived my Fimfic handle from a misremembered detail of the Mikado, it's only appropriate. :derpytongue2:

Friendship is Card Games: d20 Pony, Ch. 9, Pt. 1

Goodness, it’s been almost two years since I last checked in on Trailblazer’s adventures. IDW putting out comics almost as quickly as I could review them will do that, especially given all of the G5 video media coming out concurrently.

    Conflicted Crossroads

I have an interesting dilemma with an upcoming story, and thus I turn to the Fimfic public (or that portion of it that sees these blogs) for its wisdom.

"Rescue" from the Underworld · 7:31pm Oct 2nd, 2017

Amid some of the other blogs I see along these lines, it feels kind of petty to mention this, but you should all know about it anyway. Today, I've been moved from my basement desk to the wing of my building that houses the rest of my department. The good news is that I now have an actual view.

The bad news? I'm sharing my workspace with two other people in the same room. This may put a crimper on my Fimfiction presence; right now, I'm lucky enough that one of them's out and the other had to leave early. Granted, it'll probably be good for my actual work ethic and productivity... if I can work through the oh-so-irritating sneezes, coughs, sucking, sniffing, wheezing, and other delightful sounds that come from other humans. On a constant basis.

Well, at least it isn't a cubicle. :ajbemused:

I fail to see how being amongst others would stop you from looking at pone things. I've been stuck in a cubicle farm every since Harvey flooded my old office, but I still have FIMFiction open on one of my monitors all day long.

I can just see it now, "Oh, pone?" Upon spying the monitor. "Cute. Now get back to work. If you've got time for pone, obviously you don't have enough to do."

I'm just lucky they let me listen to pone on my Kindle. :twilightsheepish:

As the employee handbook was so kind to inform me, my Internet traffic's being monitored. Thus, I pone on my phone. That means that it's pretty obvious when I'm not on task.

Best of luck on that whole work ethic thing. And on surviving the annoyances of working in close proximity to several organic meatbags.

I like your new pic!

Yeah, they say that in my handbook, too. If they actually gave a rat's ass about what their employees were doing, they wouldn't let my coworkers on Facebook, would have fired one by now for spending 80% of his work time browsing, and wouldn't let me have access to GDocs for my review spreadsheets.

If your productivity is what they want, and you aren't looking at porn, then you're probably okay, though I understand not wanting to take any risks.

Sniffling, sneezing, coughing, Meatbags... yeah.

I was lucky enough to be exiled to my own home for work. My work ethic somehow got better. Or maybe it was just my productivity. Something about not being surrounded by the loudest people in the universe...

I actually prefer the old avatar. Or I just got used to it; I do that.

It could be worse. You could work with your desk five feet away from your boss's desk where he can see most of your monitors.

Yeah. My boss even blocked me from some innocuous website - I don't even remember what it was, but it was likely Rotten Tomatoes or some retail store's website.

After that, the only time-wasting thing I could get away with besides "office stretches" was to write snatches of fanfic lines in my notebook. And then my boss caught me doing that, thought I was writing work-related notes about Quickbooks, and told me to start typing them out on the company help file.

Sorry to one-up you, but I just one-upped you. Now you know why I have so little time to write fanfic.

Actually, I'm starting a new job as of next week, so this may all be moot, but I'm not confident that the new workplace will be less stressful.

One word: headphones

4684932
It's funny. I can usually tune out other people, but an unclearable throat turns me into HK-47. Still, I have plans to solve that. Ones that don't even need any meatbags to cease functioning.

Eh, better safe than sorry as far as I'm concerned. Plus, the powers that be might look less kindly on my form of social networking, especially given how many hours I put into it on some days.

The new avatar's just a Halloween costume. We'll go back from Twily Hooves to Derplight in November.

:twilightoops: See, this is why I felt bad about posting this blog in the first place; I knew other people had it worse than I did. Here's hoping the new job is a bit less directly supervisory.

4685428
That's the plan, but first I'm going to need to upgrade my phone. My current model's several years old and doesn't have enough space for all of my music.

Let's just hope your boss ain't into Howard Stern........

Rant away. It felt good for me to vent a little too. And thanks, I'm cautiously optimistic about the new job.
