I worked on a collaboration last night · 11:57pm Sep 30th, 2017
As most of you probably already know, I published a fairly unconventional fic yesterday that was a commission by BSting. The guy specializes in art and fanfiction that revolve around melissophilia, which is basically a kink for insect stings. Now personally, any insect with stingers scare the living bejeezus out of me in real life. But when I stumbled across his stories a while back, I was curious enough to check them out and see what it was about. And to be perfectly honest, I wasn't against it at all.
I mean, is it a kink I would ever do in real life? Hell no! I had a bad experience with hornets as a kid, and I have a major phobia of them even to this day. However, if you guys remember my blog post about kinkshaming, where I talked about how I like learning about new kinks when I can, I mentioned how consent is one of the most important things I appreciate in any kink or fetish. To me, it doesn't really matter how unusual a person's interest could be; as long as the story/artwork containing it shows the subject enjoying the fetish, and legitimately wanting it to occur, I can get on board for it (with some exceptions).
And with BSting's fic Fluttershy the Melissophile, the story grabbed my interest not just because of how odd the kink was, but because of how much Fluttershy loved it. Like, if there's any aspect to a weird kink I'll love, it's when the person knows how weird or uncommon it is, but still really wants to do it for their own pleasure. And honestly, the fic itself was well written as well! Fluttershy's interest is apparent, and it made me look at the kink and think, "Huh... I can get behind this." So when the writer finally updated the story after over a year, and added a chapter after the flash bees episode, I decided to leave a comment to give him some positive feedback. And after a little back and forth, the guy asked me to write a commission for him so that the kink could be known to my audience as well.
And I gotta say, I don't regret writing that story at all! I mean, it's weird, but it was also a fun experience to try my hands at something so outside my own interests. Writing stories that not only test my abilities, but also help people see their kinks from someone else's perspective, leaves me with a really good feeling when it works out to their liking. The guy wanted to see how my writing compared with his, and considered himself an amateur compared to myself. Although personally, not only do I not consider myself a professional (I mean, if you do, thank you, but I personally don't), but I do think BSting has a lot of potential to be a great writer in his niche.
So because of that, it only felt natural to work on a collaboration with him last night.
Since I just wrote about Braeburn experiencing the kink and enjoying it, we decided to write a crossover sort of thing where he visits Fluttershy for a double-session with some wasps. The writing ended up going really well, even though time flew by and we were writing until almost 5am (I'm nocturnal and he doesn't work on weekends, so it wasn't a big deal). By the end, I suggested he posted it as a chapter on his story, and that I would recommend his work on my page. Which is exactly what I'm doing!
Did you like my Braeburn fic Yellow Jackets on Yellow Fur? Are you curious to see more? Then go visit BSting's page to see more involving the kink and his stories. You can also check out his newest chapter of Fluttershy the Melissophile, which I worked on him with last night. If you think the kink could be something you can enjoy (even just in writing or art), then give him a follow or a favorite. I'm sure he'd appreciate the growing buzz to his specialty (pun intended).
