So I saw the three new Equestria Girl episodes. Dance Magic and Movie Magic were great. Mirror Magic however...wasn't.
The prospect of Sunset returning to Equestria, interactions between the Humane 7 and Starlight, the magical mirror itself, and the reappearance of Juniper Montage were all utterly squandered on yet another "Starlight Glimmer saves the day" plot.
And it bothered me. It bothered me a lot. My thoughts on Glim-Glam aside, the fact that we've had one of these stories in EQG, one in the main show, AND one in the comics concerns me greatly. But, that's another blog for another time. Compared to the rest of the movies and shorts, Mirror Magic doesn't measure up to the usual standard. And the writer in me can't let it go.
Mirror Magic is pretty much garbage. The only thing good about it, that I can think of, is that every character was at least in character throughout the whole thing.
This special is living proof that Starlight is the Creator's Pet (see here:Creator's Pet) . And I find it pretty insulting that Sunset was demoted to damsel in distress. (granted I'm a Sunset fanboy, so I'm a little biased when it comes to how Sunset is portrayed)
Ultimately, this was a special with so much potential being wasted that it made me seethe with the utmost rage.
