Weirdly Meta Seasonal Humor, and a Happy New Year

Fly Hard is not your favorite Hearth’s Warming story.”

Rainbow Dash blinked. “Uh, yeah it is.”

As impurturbably as before, Twilight repeated herself. “Fly Hard is not your favorite Hearth’s Warming story.”

Tomorrow's a Snow Day, That Must Mean It's Time for Santa Hats

We're scheduled for up to 17 inches of snow in the next 48 hours! If that's not enough to get us white through to Christmas, then I don't know what is. Pray for my poor, aching back; I'll be shoveling all night long.

OMPR and the Wrongest Person in the World (it's Present Perfect)

Just a short blast from the One Man's Pony Ramblings past this time. See, back when I was doing reviews on my review blog but when I wasn't doing reviews on my review blog, sometimes I'd talk about whatever the newest episode had brought us. Not reviews of them, per se, but more just, "here's some stuff I thought about while watching the latest installment of pony." That, and posting

Quiz Time! A Thing You Might Not Remember About OMPR

...Well, first of all, you might not remember that OMPR is/was One Man's Pony Ramblings, the mostly-fanfic-review-and-sometimes-other-stuff blog I ran for a long time.  I mean, plenty of you probably do remember it, but it's been *checks notes* jeez, over three years, closer to four, since I stopped?  Man, time flies.

Review Roundup: September 4th - 22nd · 11:49pm Sep 24th, 2017

The first two weeks of the fantasy football season, I lost both of my games... and I lost both of them by a single point :ajbemused:

But this week, we're trying something new! Specifically, we're trying "get your fanny beat in a blowout;" as I type this, Jordy Nelson just scored a last-second touchdown in the Packers/Bengals game to make my fantasy score 75-107... and my opponent still has two players left, to my none. Looks like it's gonna be a winless September.

But your September can still be better than my fantasy team's! All you need to do is head down below the break, and catch up on all the reviews and ramblings from my blog that you might have missed in the past few weeks. Go on, take a gander:

Monday, September 4, 2017: Mini-Reviews Round 199

Short reviews of White in the Snow, by destinedjagold; One Can Only Wonder, by -TGM-; and To Warm a Mare's Heart in Two Hours, by Timaeus.

Wednesday, September 6, 2017: First Sentences in (Fan)Fiction the 22nd

My opinions of how fanfics start. This time, it's a trip through the New Stories box... and not to spoil anything, but it goes about as well as you'd expect.

Friday, September 8, 2017: Fandom Classics Part 227: The Mane Makes The Pony

My review of Merlos the Mad's tale of a manehaircut mix-up.

Monday, September 11, 2017: Mini-Reviews Round 200

Short reviews of The Gentle Folk, by MonolithiuM; The Voyageby BookeCypher; and .until the last pony is ferried., by shortskirtsandexplosions.

Wednesday, September 13, 2017: Fandom Classics Part 228: "Princest is Wincest," It Said

My review of cleverpun's story of graffiti, the inevitable limitations of censorship, and hot princess-on-princess action (or the lack thereof)

Friday, September 15, 2017: Mini-Reviews Round 201

Short reviews of Are We the Baddies?, by Jawjoe; Twilight Sort-Of Kills Her Friends, by Mad Hattie; and Carrot and Stick, by Tumbleweed.

Monday, September 18, 2017: This Day in Pony History: September 18th, 2011

A quick glimpse back at what was happening around the fandom six years ago.

Wednesday, September 20, 2017: Mr. Ted

In which I talk about a good friend who was recently in a horrific accident. He's stabilized and will hopefully be able to get his breathing tube removed tomorrow, but it still going to be in the hospital for the foreseeable future.

Friday, September 22, 2017: Fandom Classics Part 229: ...But the Kitchen Sink

My review of Dub's Rewatcher's timeless love story about a mare and her... plumbing.

So speaking of fantasy football, have you ever read Sharp Spark's "Fantasy Hoofball"?

Author Interviewer

That is a fun story. You should definitely read it if you haven't already, Chris. :D

I did read it! I think I read it after PP reviewed it in one of his minificrecs (see? The system works!)

...though looking now, I see that it's been in my "read and awaiting review" folder for more than two years. Hmm. Maybe the system doesn't work after all.

Man. c.c At least all the backlog in my lists are the living unread.

Both Are We the Baddies? and Twilight Sort-Of Kills Her Friends are pretty good. I did not really like White in the Snow when I read it, though.

The others? Never heard of em.
