Earthquake follow up · 5:05pm Sep 20th, 2017
The death-toll has continued to increase. I'm frustrated at my lack of ability to do something about this other than sharing information on social media and directing people to where they can donate. In the meantime, my friends in Mexico are riding their motorcycles to deliver food, tools and even paramedics; others work with the government and are constantly updating their feed with (for example) areas where electricity is being worked on and ETAs on such... veterinary friends and doctors are donating their work free of charge; list of children that ended up loosing track of their parents and vice-versa keep increasing... my highschool had a bridge collapse and 2 people died, while 40 were injured... I know it's not the only thing going on, or the only natural disaster happening in the last 24 hours but it hit so close... a school lost 21 children and 4 teachers... having a kid of my own I can only imagine what the parents are feeling and I don't really want to think about that.
Still, I guess 9.5k 32 years ago to about 200 at this time is encouraging, and people are helping all over. I just wish I could help too.
Oh my
Helps those near you where you live, even if you can't help those far away.
4673659 I'm in Michigan, it's kind of hard to step out and do something, but I have an idea for here at work

I think he means help people near you.
If there's nothing you can do for them then help people near you. Even if it's just helping in a soup kitchen for an afternoon.
Help those you can... Trust me, it isn't perfect but atleast you'll feel like you're helping SOMEONE.
I wish I could help other people affected by things like this, but...well...I'm one of the victims of the latest string of natural disasters. Hell, I just lost my apartment to reconstruction and am crashing at my family's place for the next several months. Not a hell of a lot I can do when my own life is in shambles.
Still, thoughts and prayers with everyone.
Well, those numbers are a hoax, actually.
They are reporting way less loses than the ones people have been sharing on social media.
There was a whole hospital that crumbled down like a cookie and it was full of patients and medics.
And actually, just this morning there was another earthquake nearby, like on Morelos, I think.
4676560 those were the stats on the day as it was going on, so I had to go by what I had. I think the current count is almost at the 300 count. The 9k people that died was back in 85.
4676588
Actually, there are more than 300.
You know how the game goes down here in mexico.
Have you heard about the whole Frida case thing?
4677494 Yeah, I also heard they showed the Simpson's episode with the fake "trapped in the well" thing with Bart. I read a couple of articles on how things like that happen... is the one floating around from the supposed "creator" real?
4677501
Supposed creator?
What do you mean?
4677622
I saw this article/post written by some dude who claimed they had created Frida Sofia. It was probably fake, but I thought I'd ask
4677632
Frida was a make up thing.
Even the media itself changed the story a few hours later.
There's a whole scandal on it. In part that the army fucked up by not letting civilians do the rescue job they were doing which in turn caused the dead of many children in the collapsed school, plus a scandal with the moles and the need to make both the army and the moles' image better.
First they said it was a girl, then they said it was a janitor, and then they just suddenly went silent about Frida. The article that called it a hoax was later supported by other freelancer reporters.
