Trying new things, polishing old ones

During the time I was working from home (shortly after the start of quarantine), I discovered the sword-and-sorcery genre. After happening upon audio readings of stories by Robert E. Howard on YouTube, I began immersing myself in the adventures of Solomon Kane and Conan of Cimmeria. Having played Dungeons & Dragons in high school (and still keeping up with every edition of the game since),

Why Diamond Tiara does not attend Crystal Prep Academy

(Aside from the fact that CPA was not introduced until the third movie)

    I recently formulated an explanation:

The Filthy Rich of the Equestria Girls universe was once romantically involved with Abacus Cinch. Although their individual ambitions ultimately led them to drift apart, they remain friends.

    Shadow Five Headcanons

Just recording these thoughts before I call it a night... thought I’d share these for kicks and giggles:

    Sunny Flare

    • Physically the second-smallest of the Shadow Five.
    • Principal Cinch’s niece.
    • A bit of a germaphobe.
    • For some reason, I imagine her being of Italian descent (I have her cheer "bravissima!" in one story).

    Back to the Daily Grind

    Hello everyone!

These last couple of weeks have been quite busy, but productive. Last month, after working from home for nearly six months, I went back to work onsite at my day job. It was a bit of an adjustment going back to a commuting schedule, but it does feel good to get out of the house, even just as part of a daily grind (with all precautions taken of course).

No, I'm not dead. · 5:27am Sep 15th, 2017

Fate threw me for a loop this past August. First, my condo's air conditioner broke down and had to be replaced, then so did my Windows desktop of 12 years. I'm currently working from my new MacBook Pro, which I got so I can keep using my Adobe Photoshop CS5. Unfortunately, the Lexmark all-in-one I've been using as my scanner is incompatible with Mac OS Sierra. With all the expenses I've incurred, it'll be a while before I get me a new scanner.

Thus, I'm unable to scan my latest drawings for the time being, so I've shifted gears back to writing. To answer the question that is no doubt on everybody's mind...yes, I am working on new Equestria Girls belly dance story - this one focusing on Principal Celestia.

Even as I was writing Parting the Veil, I'd also considered bringing one of the Sirens in on the fun - specifically Aria, since she seems the least likely to take up such a pursuit. I personally see her taking up the "Tribal Fusion Style" practiced by Rachel Brice (look up the dancer's name and you'll see what I mean). However, this scenario has yet to "reveal itself" to me.

Of course, part of me still wants to do an Equestria Girls horror/mystery in the vein of the classic giallo. Giallo is the Italian predecessor to the modern slasher film - an often schlocky murder mystery with gruesome, over-the-top kills committed by an unknown killer. To give a small taste, here's the trailer for one of my favorite giallo films, Deep Red (1975):

Feature Film in less than a month. Equestria L.A. in two. Here's looking forward to both!
