Re-Read of Book 6 - Sorry for the Blog Spam! · 5:31am Sep 12th, 2017
Well, sorry for this coming so soon after the last blog, but that's it, I'm done reading.
A warning: This contains my thoughts about Pinked, eluding to stuff I have planned, though I will make sure none of it contains outright spoilers. You've been warned!
Thoughts...
Intermezzo starts the Trixie and Zecora team-up. I like them a lot as a pair! I am actually really excited to continue this and write their heroic raid on Ponyville.
Heading into Pinkie's dream, I actually don't have much to say. I noticed some typos, but as far as content, I am still like it a lot so far. Fluttershy had a warning from the Cat Sidhe and then got to know Vitra a little better, Vitra had an epiphany about love, Celestia had her moment with Linnai before they found Pinkie's friend catalog. We've got Mulcibar and Dash having a scene that I wrote purposely to be a parallel to the scene he had with Fluttershy. They have to be friends and team up despite the tension! And we have Discord finding out some of the darkness in Pinkie's mind.
I think I went a bit overboard with the number of unique changelings here. The original plan is to have each of them fight with a party of our heroes, and through flashbacks, reveal how they came to befriend Pinkie in the dream world. I'm not sure about that plan now, having had two years to set the fic down and then pick it back up. My process right now is actually to write a few pivotal scenes and connect the dots on them. I know some of the end stuff of this book, as well as how I overall want it to end, but the middle is a bit messy right now. Coming back to this after so long, I've definitely got my work cut out for me to be able to just hop back in.
The thought has occurred to me that I might actually slice off Pinked, and even rewrite the first three chapters so they're in line with whatever middle and ending I come up with. Perhaps it won't come to that, though.
From this point on...
I would ask anyone out there who is still a fan of this fic to be patient just a little longer. The plan is not to release a chapter, but to release the entire rest of Book 6 all at once. I can also announce in a fairly confident manner that The Conquering of Love will probably have 8 books and will hopefully conclude at less than 500,000 words.
