An important message for a dark subject, give a read

Pen Dragon has made an passionate and important petition, one I think is best served by their own words. So please, for the sake of a benign website that has brought such entertainment and joy to many, give this a look.

    Important message about Suicide

WARNING: Discussions, however brief for the sake of tact, about self-harm and suicidal thoughts are in this post. People especially vulnerable to such should ensure they are in a good headspace before reading. This sort of trigger is no joke.

    Chapter 56 Promo!

In an isolated, abnormally large, hollowed-out tree might not be the typical abode for megalomaniacal n'ere-do-wells. Though, there was a reason both of them had opted for current accommodations over the typical kingdoms and castles, in one form or another. The area was absolutely inundated with dark magic. From the eerie glow that some of the plants gave off, to traces of black aerenth crystals

Hurricane Incoming: Irma is Coming to Visit · 3:35am Sep 6th, 2017

As some of you know, I live in Florida. More specifically, I live in the peninsula portion of Florida. There are great many powerful things in this neck of the swamps and rivers. Bull sharks, alligators, possible river monsters, the US Airforce, us being the lightning capital of the USA, tornadoes, venomous snakes, coked up tourists, political season, lots of stuff. One of which is, of course, big ass hurricanes. This lovely lady goes by the name Irma-

Nope.

Not that one either.

Well she does use water and makes storms...

Theeeeereee we go.

Irma here is currently making her way across Puerto Rico. She's sporting gusts of over 225 mph and is currently ranked at a Category 5. Right now she is parked over Antigua and Barbuda, with President Trump declaring a state of emergency in Puerto Rico, US Virgin Islands, and Florida.

So you might be wondering why I am writing this from my house and not from, say, a convenient family trip to see my kin up in Virginia? The answer is mostly a matter of questions and safety. Evacuations have been sounded in South Florida and might be here. If that is so, we will leave. But right now Irma's path is as predictable as Twitch Plays Pokemon. She might swing north and rake across the Atlantic coast, she might swing west and go along the Gulf Coast; or she might swing right up the middle of Florida. One way or another between unpredictable pathing and sheer size, it's going to be extremely hard to get out of the way. Secondly is location. My house is full concrete build, on raised, solid foundation, and right next to a very fast flowing major river system. Any storm surge like what Texas got isn't going to just sit and build up, but get ejected out as it flows by and gets sucked up by the river. And by river I mean something several miles across and hundreds of miles long. Unlike Texas with Harvey or Louisiana with Katrina, sitting water won't be an issue.

And against sheering force on wind, I'd rather be in a low, concrete structure than tall and wooden-framed like a lot of hotels are. There also isn't much near my house that runs risk of getting torn down and thrown around to become flying projectiles.

Simply put, safest place we can be is here.

We're heavily stocked with food, water, gas for generator, and storm guards for the windows and doors. I am probably going to ride this out (and thus likely lose internet), but I'm not acting brash here. Irma is the most powerful storm in decades, potentially the strongest in the region ever. She's got a mean left-hook and she's going to do damage, I pray for lessened damage and that she is a humbling force to life rather than destructive one. This is an extremely powerful storm, a force of nature and act of a god. Thinking one can outrun it all the time is more arrogant than trying to stand aside and let it pass.

I am not afraid of this storm, but I do respect it. I fear more for others less fortunate. Pray for me and my family if you wish, but please if you have faith in any being or even in just luck, give it to them.

Good luck, Tarb... You'll need it for the storm to come...

Regardless, be safe Tarb. Hopefully the storm won't hit as hard as it looks.

I live 30 mins away from Houston, I pray you don't get it as bad as we did...

Texas was hit especially hard because most of the area Harvey flooded is below sea-level or right on it, with no major river system or swamp to drain it. Not the same scenario here, even if Irma is much stronger than Harvey. Thanks for the prayers.

Waiting is the worst part unless worse occurs. I pray it doesn't for anyone else, but I'm confident in my stakes where I am.

4659850
I'll take all I can get, but I fear more for others than myself.

I'll keep you in my prayers my friend.

As a fellow Floridian who is more than likely going to have to Bunker down as well, all I can really say is stay safe Tarb. As much as we love your stories you have to be alive in order to write them, so safety takes priority.:scootangel:

See ya after this whole thing blows over.:derpytongue2:

P.s. Work at Wal-Mart today was crazy, people are just NOW getting ready for this....why?:twilightangry2:

we'll all keep you and anyone else Irma attacks in our prayers, Lord Grendelson. may you and your family, including/especially Faithy, remain as safe as physically possible.

Hey Tarb, should I send you a Jaeger? Then you could just fight the hurricane off and everything would be fine. :pinkiehappy:

But seriously though, stay safe.

Fingers and toes crossed that everyone is able to weather the storm.

Sounds like you're in for a fun few days! All joking aside I get what you mean when you say "act of a god". Coming from Kansas every big summer storms bring the threat of a Tornado. Luckily, you guys get warnings for hurricanes and thus have time to prepare, which it sounds like you've already done. Hope you and your family stay safe. Ride it out mate!

I got you in my prayers, man. Be safe out there, along with everyone else experiencing these hurricanes

God speed dude...
God speed...

Good luck Tarb, stay safe!

Be safe and keep us posted. I've only experienced a big storm once in The Philippines, and waiting them out can be really boring.

By the way, who is that lady in your first picture? She's pretty.

Hope the hurricane doesn't hit disneys animal kingdom too hard...we all know what happened when pythons got loose in florida thanks to careless owners...God help us if Hippos start breeding wild in the swamps. Then again, there are also lion,tigers,elephant,giraffe,rhino,warthog...thats just part of the animal kingdom...the list kinda goes on and on. On the other hand, some of said species could use a population boost since their numbers globally are kinda...endangered. I guess if something did happen you get positives and negatives.

But no seriously,if the hippos get loose and flourish,Florida is screwed far more than any hurricane.XD they are deadly in water and on land can run through almost anything at sprint speeds that could outpace a horse...

Seriously though, good luck when that monster makes landfall.

Good luck to you Tarb. I believe that Irma... Darn. I can't say it won't slow you down or won't do too much damage, or won't hit you at all. But stay safe.
Oh man here comes the water works, I promised myself I wouldn't do this. *Distant sniffling*

Good luck, and stay safe.

(Visiting friends in, say, Washington this month would be safer, but still...)

Good luck tarb, stay safe from the giant ass hurricane.

TBH we don't want it to go over the gulf bc it will get stronger with winds to wipe out city's cool as that might be but I want my house and I will pray for everyone that is going to be caught in the storm. Stay safe tarb

Good luck Tarb, say hi to everyone else for me.

That's actually a very humbling view of nature Tarb. :) I wish you the best as this storm passes you, and hope not only for your safety, but also of your family, friends, and everyone living in Florida. Be safe Tarb.

Though, while I'll admit Irma has be classified as a "Force of Nature", there's another "Force of Nature" out there for your well-being Tarb. Remember Matthews? XD

Stay safe Tarb

Or in story terms Godzilla Incarnated,,,,Shit, stay safe dude

Lol! What a reference!

I try. Whether I succeed or fail is up to interpretation.

Tarb, I would send you my prayers for good fortune, but I'm a pagan, and any prayers I send you would likely be covered in the blood of the sacrificial animal.

Instead, I will drink rum to your good health, and promise my next kill to Thor (storm god) if he will see you safely through this.

4660516
I would appreciate lack of shedding of blood for my own or my compatriots safe dues in this time. Hey Thor was an animal lover too, just not all goes respawn like his do :trollestia:

How things like this work, you have to respect it because of what it is. In the Abrahamic religions, their deity has no name. Giving a name implies it can be anthropomorphized, equated to a human concept. That is why there is a theology difference between god as a descriptor of something and "God" with a capital G. This puts man on too high a pedestal to compare them to something like that. That's why I call something like this an Act of God, because for however mighty man thinks itself, there is always going to be things than could humble it; things it couldn't control, cease, or create. Earthquakes, tsunamis, volcanoes, hurricanes, tornadoes, take you pick.

And yep, I do so remember that and similar offers have been made. Thooooguh personally Faithy v. Irma is a smackdown I think we'd all like to avoid.

4660029
Eh, Animal Kingdom would need to get in line. Not bad thinking though, as it was Hurricane Andrew 25 years ago who smashed up that reptile center and released all those pythons. The pet trade sources were just supplements to their numbers, that main body of the invasive Burmese pythons can all be traced back to one reptile facility. And thankfully it's lessening with time. They can't handle cold snaps, alligators know how to kill hem by going for the head or neck, and they're losing their eggs to adapting predators. Florida has always been the "Australia" of the USA in terms of wildlife.

I'm actually imagining how each species would adapt...

Like I said,it's a big list...

I think I actually laughed when I read Swamp Kangaroo and Swamp Wallabee.oh geez...

Well, sounds like things are going to get interesting for you soon in a potentially bad way. Hope you and any others caught in that storm stay safe.

Hurricane Irma's brother, Jose is starting to form

4661402
Probably riding on the coat tails of Irma, I'd say.

Yo, Tarb, stay safe in your part of Florida, man. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't nervous for Marion County where I live. But what I'm really worried about is my mom, who works at one of the hospitals in Ft. Lauderdale, so she's one of the essential personnel.

4660543
Be careful out there , Florida is coming soon .

Stay safe and good luck, Tarb.

Stand strong from Queensland we know how you feel

Also when Mother Nature wants to go on a rampage nothing can stop her

Hope your safe Tarb. I'm also buckling down cause of her.
