"Lost to myself, but I'll just start again."

Last year I had this dream that I was at a state park somewhere, outside a big building, surrounded by people in costumes and con shirts. The party was inside: all my friends, all the fun. Trouble was, there was a sort of Sword Art Online thing going on. I was walking around in a game, and I was supposed to use the menus to equip things from my inventory so I could go inside. It reminded me of

    A Wild Willow Wren...Wappears

Waiting at an airport gate, bound for Baltimare and BronyCon. I've been too long away, and this happy return is just beginning to feel real.

Looking forward to catching up and excited for oodles of friendship and magic. I understand they go together.

    Nom de Plume de Pony

    Hello, horsefriends. Quick question.

Say somepony wants to start making pony music and their name sounds a lot like "Summer Rustle," would that be a good stage name?

    Asking for a friend. :ajsmug:

BronyCon, In Verse · 4:39am Aug 31st, 2017

I threatened to do this and didn't manage to talk myself out of it. It's not exactly a recap, but I hope it's a decent illustration (in fourteener triplets, for some reason) of what the weekend was like for me. Thank you very much to everyone who helped make it that way. If I interacted with you at the convention at all, there's a shout-out in there somewhere. Oh, and a few right up front...

To Olden Bronie, Questing Beast, Wren dedicates this measure:
Missed by moments, unmet friends remain tomorrow's treasure.

I returned to this between-place from a nowhere that I know.
Drove mountain morning dark behind, rode unfurled dawn below
And saw the sun-side of a storm that veiled the evenglow.

Earthward now it shimmers, lighting on an upturned face,
Gasping at the green of her, the slow and rolling grace,
The newness of the comfort in her honey-thick embrace.

For here the sky will press you like a lover in its arms
At the crossroads of the compass, with its half-uncovered charms,
To breathe you full of secrets that beguile and disarm

And here I gain the good true hand that draws me to the center,
Built on sun and starlight and the dreams of some inventor
Who has fallen into fairyland (so must we all to enter.)

The wings of wonderment are wide, their light and shadow splaying
Over makers making, dancers dancing, players playing,
Writers will their worlds to life while lovers, they love, saying

Be with me for here and now, be in my soul for ever.
Be as you are and free, and where you wander you will never
Leave me--I will always be what we have made together.

Trooping all in twos and fours and dozens more they go,
Clad in every color, wild, fantastic shapes to show
A sea of friends and strangers, and some searching on their own

For something still unknown. And in my way I move between
And seek what springs within me and what wishes to be seen.
Try to touch the magic softly. Wait for what it means.

Welcome writ on new-found faces, old friends keeping close with care.
Standing among sisters, daring more than I have dared,
Rising from the ashes to a roaring in the air.

Even in the dark alone and dancing, I am found.
Someone reads the fortune in my eyes without a sound
And shares the silence at my side, until I come around

To good cheer and conversation (though never time enough)
Ideally among inklings, with a cup of sturdy stuff,
Curled up with pretty folk and pillows soft as Fluffle Puff.

A little piece of paradise for just a little while.
A reminder to remember every reason left to smile,
The music still to carry me across the many miles.

My first time was a love song, though I did not know the words
(I own that I have ever been a solitary bird)
I hummed along until I found a second, and a third

For harmony comes easy in the loved and listening herd,
Where time is made, unsteady hearts are given space to stir
And choose to hold each other, to behold and to be heard.

Yo Bad Horse... y'alright?

Gorgeous. Thank you for this, and thanks to Ed for pointing me this way.

You bring tears to my eyes, from the happy memories and beauty of this piece.

Thank you.

Ah! Loved this bit. It's so true.

Lovely. Especially "For here the sky will press you like a lover in its arms" etc.

Was good to see you again, and be some modest part of this.

Man I thought I had chops. But you...your chops have chops!

I'm glad somebody else watches the clouds when they fly.

This is quite a good poem. Maybe it's the first pony filk. Very nice ending.
