[08/28/2017] Updates - I AM alive, mates. · 3:47am Aug 29th, 2017
Hello everyone. Yeah, it's been a while, due to a few things, which I will cover in this blog post.
First off, I was having a lot of trouble trying to come up with anything for this fandom. I was stressed out (The job I had was not helping much), and just being unable to write anything, or draw, or do anything substantial stressed me out to the point of burn-out. That's never a good thing. I took a break, and realized that for a while, I didn't want to be a part of this fandom. That's no longer the case, due to the amazing, interesting, and oft insane people I've met through this fandom.
Secondly, my hard drive died. Not "died" died, but I can't access the folder where my stories were. I can load up the hard drive, but I cannot access the Documents folder where I kept all of my stories. That, unfortunately, means I will be hard-pressed to continue some of my stories. Others I can go back and finish, and some I might be starting soon (Another note on that at a later point).
Third, I've been battling depression for... about ten years now. Off and on now, but I don't talk to anyone about it due to the fact that my mother, who was chronically depressed, was put on anti-depressants a while ago, and while they changed her life for the better, that's not usually the case with medications like those. Sometimes people become like emotionless robots, pretty much unable to feel anything. Due to the depression, I end up having the self-deprecating thoughts around me never being good enough, never being able to better myself, all due to the fact that I feel useless and worthless a lot of the time.
Now, onto stories and that stuff. I'm STILL trying to recover those files, and trying to figure out WHY I can't access that folder (It shouldn't take so long to load it up in my external enclosure), so bear with me on that point.
Dead Earth IS going to continue, as is any other story in the Shadow War collection of stories I was writing. That also means Secrets of the Zone will continue as well (People like that one a lot, apparently. I'm happy that you guys do).
Future Tactics is going on Hiatus, mostly due to the fact that I stopped writing it due to the fact I did not enjoy writing it anymore. It felt like I was trying to do too much too quickly, and I stopped writing 10k words into the next chapter for it.
The Unlikeliest of Heroes MIGHT continue. Unfortunately, I left that one for too long, and have to write some better material for it. Fawkes IS fun to write, I will admit, and Creed.
Project Overlord WILL continue, right when I feel I can go back and write it sufficiently well.
Now, some good news:
Over the last three months, I have been working my way towards becoming a part of the Canadian Armed Forces. That's a huge step, especially for someone like me. However, it's my choice, and while I have an inordinate amount of people I know going, "What if you go to war?", it is still my choice, and no amount of pleading will change my mind. It's what I want to do.
So, I hope you all are doing okay, and I'm glad to be back.
