S7E16: "Campfire Tales" · 11:04pm Aug 26th, 2017
I was a bit underwhelmed with this week's episode. For a start, it was really three short specials stuck together with a rather weak camping story. I didn't find the legends that interesting either, a little surprisingly as I've generally enjoyed the comics they tie in with. Also, while I loved the clear affection Rainbow showed towards Scootaloo, I didn't like the way Scoots herself reacted. ★★
For once, we agree on something!
Yeah, the framing for this episode was rather lame. Although I give them credit for the nicely-realized "flyders", which definitely do sound like something that would exist in Equestria. :)

Actually, I think your S7 top four is the same as mine, albeit in a slightly different order! :P

I wasn't a fan of those, though not because they were a bad idea in the episode. Too many memories of Scottish midges!
Yeah, they were way overboard on Scoots here. She's grown up some. She might still have a bit of the jitters, but I'd think it would be better than before.
As for the tales themselves, I dunno. They just didn't really grab me. I actually was liking Applejack's until she basically said, "And, uh, then something magical happened and he saved the day!" The magical thing happening was a pretty important step to just gloss over.
It was nice to see Torch again, though.

Yep. I made the same point in my review over on UK of Equestria, and I don't think we're alone in finding that annoying. I don't think most pre-readers would let writers get away with that!
