Live from Bronycon! · 12:29pm Aug 12th, 2017

As much as a blog post can be live, anyways.

Not gonna be so many pictures this time around, 'cause it's kind of a pain on my laptop. Plus, the hotel WiFi isn't great. I don't want to pay extra for the fast internet, so I'm getting the two tin cans and a string internet. I'll write a follow-up blog later on, maybe after the convention is over. Probably Tuesday, or maybe Wednesday.

Okay, this first thing is for people who are here at the con. Super Trampoline and I are doing a terrible collab fic, which will almost certainly be a shipfic. We're going to do it Sunday night--pretty much everyone we've talked to so far that's interested in contributing will be staying that late, and it'll be a good time to do it. We'll all be sleep-deprived, possibly not sober, and in the mood to write a romantic crackfic.

Location is to be determined. Likewise, rules are to be determined.

Secondly, I think I mentioned this before, but I'm going to be interviewed on The Barcast next Friday. At some point, they'll have an official questions forum where you can put in the questions you want to ask me. I'd expect to see that maybe Monday or Tuesday, but I don't know for absolute sure. Here's a link to their group--it is mature. You were warned.

Thirdly, I just published a new story: Not Another Equestria Girls Fic. Y'all have seen these before, and this one is going to be much of the same.

I got the idea for those stories when I was driving, and I passed first an Entenmann's truck, and then a Thomas' truck, both with dealer plates. I assume that somebody had just bought them for reasons, and it kind of gave me the idea for the story.

Not a whole lot of research went into it, but I can say that an Australian Kelpie is a real sheep dog, and it seemed appropriate given that in mythology Kelpies are horses. Also, Kelpies are comics canon.

I don't know much about antique Vespas, and the wikipedia page wasn't terribly helpful, so I have no idea if the model of Vespa that Pinkie Pie owns actually exists.

Also, Entenmann's baked goods aren't really that good, IMHO. Pinkie would have done better stealing a Little Debbie truck.

:flutterrage: Heresy! Entenmann's serves the finest (mass produced) frosted goods in both Equestria and... whatever realm Canterlot High is in. ...What do they call themselves? Humastria?

Oliver has suggested Pedestria.

To be fair, Pinkie Pie could totally own a vehicle that doesn't exist.

Where ya gonna be tonight?
I wanna thank you in person for the help you've given me over the years.

I'll be in and out of Quills and Sofas

What you should be demanding is dialup internet quality. Better bandwidth than mobile phones and often a larger data cap than mid end broadband.

Dont rock the boat? dont have to when they take the Titanic as their standard then sell off all the watertight doors.

Dont forget the handclenser.

Failing that, Fairy Liquid, but seriously wash it off before it dissolves the rest of your bodies cellular structure., :twilightoops:

I just met you!

Put on your earmuffs and blinders, folks. You want to see the crack!fic, but the crack will be loooouuuuuud.

Totally disagree. Pretty much any other kind of baked goods are better than Entenmann's, IMHO.

You can have my share of Entenmann's

Oliver has suggested Pedestria.

That's reasonable enough, I guess. I don't particular like it, but it's not like I've got any better ideas.

That's actually quite likely.

Humieland.

I like that. It's cute and descriptive.

I could get that at the hotel, but it costs extra. I could also have tethered to my phone and it would have been a little bit faster.

Neither of the laptops I brought are very good for pictures, to be honest. Neither has much memory, and one of them is about ten years old; the other one hasn't worked right after it got a shower.

Plus, if you accidentally drink Fairy Liquid, you might wind up stuck in Fairyland for a while.

Yay!

Oh, yes. It's delightful. I'm working on getting it all together right now.

I tried a couple paragraphs on those typewriters. They were... a cure for technological nostalgia. You had to pound those keys to get any ink on the page, and it seemed with the best of them that it was precessing the end of the line with every line typed.

I gave up after about four lines. My respect to anyone who composed anything on those old torture devices. :rainbowderp:

It's not so bad once you get the hang of it. I do prefer electrics; you don't have to bang the keys so hard. Using 'em brings back some good memories, though. Plus, once you've got the hang of it, the banging of the keys is very soothing.

It took me about three pages at Trotcon until I finally got some of the muscle memory back.

Also, I feel like we managed to just miss each other at the con. I swear I saw you a couple of times just in passing.

I think I watched once or twice as you held court. You were the guy with the big black beard and the hat, right? It didn't help that a half-dozen writers were walking around with those 'Admiral Biscuit: est. 1977' shirts. :rainbowlaugh:

Correct. I think I wore the top hat with the white ears for the whole con, although I might have had my baseball cap on one day.

I know. That's what makes it fun!

Next year, demand one from me.

That is an excellent compromise. :moustache: For me. You're still getting a bum deal.

I'm happy sticking with Little Debbie. Zebra Cakes FTW.
