Update No. 17 · 9:04pm Aug 11th, 2017
Why do summers ALWAYS end up this way? I start with great hopes that I'll be able to keep a schedule of ANY kind, and end up completely screwing it all up by week 3 or so.
Work is STILL going on the next chapter of Consanguinity, but that's about as much news as I've got for everyone. I'm sorry I'm taking such a long time, considering how well I was doing when I started this story; I don't know if I'm just losing motivation to work on it, or if there's something more going on, but it's frustrating as hell.
As long-time readers will know, I get my son every summer for about 5 weeks and I end up spending most of my time with him. It's always great, but I do wish I could keep some semblance of a writing schedule in there somewhere. He's very understanding when I say that I need to go write for a bit, so the problem's not him -- it's ME, and my damned stupid brain that I can't seem to make work the way I want it to.
*siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiigh*
If there's something that I've learned from speaking to a few different writers, both professional and not, it's that you have to find your own rhythm and write when you can write. Not everyone can force themselves to write every single day, and some people have to wait to be inspired to write... but that comes with its own set of problems, and it's getting kind of irritating having to fight with myself.
Oh well. I'll keep going, no matter what... even if it takes me to the end of the year to finish this damned story, I'm gonna finish it.
Thank you all for your continued support, and I hope that you'll enjoy the rest of Consanguinity when it comes out. I love you all.
