So I dropped a new fic

Don't know if I want to continue it, especially as it's been so long since I actually wrote it and I'm not even really active in the fandoms of either things the story pertains to anymore.

Plus it does feel a little off-brand for me. I think I'll see how it's received and then either continue or delete it after maybe a week.

Jenna Moreci on Show V. Tell · 5:57pm Aug 7th, 2017

I might have plugged this awesome lady's vlogs before, but here I am again doing it because I just find them so gosh darned helpful. ^^

These two of her videos are on the age-old question of when to 'show' versus when to 'tell' in writing. (You can view the show vid here and the tell vid here)

The TL;DR of the videos if you don't feel like watching them are basically this:

Showing = evoking emotion, and should be utilized when something is very important, when you're showcasing an extreme emotion, and when you set the scene in a new and important place.

Telling = giving information, and is typically used for transitions, to eliminate redundancy, and when it's just not as important. She mentions that you can also use tell when the emotion is just too dam high. You could lead up to things by showing and then drop the bomb with a tell to gain suspense.

These are my abridgments on her own words and I highly recommend you actually give these vids a look, as well as all her videos on writing. I'll be showcasing a few of my favorites during my writing and posting process to share the things I have learned from her.

Hope everyone is having a great week. See you tomorrow for another Sympathy Series Side Story (SSSS? S4?)
