Twilight floated a second fritter up to her mouth when she realized the first was gone. “What is in these things?” “Mostly love. Love ‘n about three sticks of butter.”

Blast from the Past: Now 100% Less Likely to Get Me In Trouble

Hey, some of you guys remember that thing I did a long time ago, where I wrote up 50 questions about headcanon and suggested people answer them on their blogs, and then, like, everyone on the site wanted to do it, and then the site mods sent me nice but stern messages suggesting I cut that shit out because it was spamming people's feeds?

    Full Circle

Wanderer D posted a touching retrospective of his time in fandom, and that made me remember the very first I ever heard of the show.

(Potential implied spoilers but maybe not? below.)

BronyCon Preview post · 12:43am Aug 3rd, 2017

So, I am going to BronyCon this year. I've got two things Friday, and a whole day free Saturday. James and Trixie are staying home, and Bradel isn't going to be there to be my escort con boyfriend guy who hangs out with me all day, so I'll need company!

...no, seriously, please talk to me. Otherwise I'll sit in Quills and Sofas by myself, doing my best to look like "I'm totally just resting. I absolutely have things to do and am not a social pariah, and I'm sure they'll be starting... any... minute..."

Anyway, your guide to finding bookplayer, and what to do with her when you find her, below the break.

Things to note:
I'll probably be getting there around 11-ish on Friday.

Any time I'm free I'll be in Quills and Sofas or the nearest smoking area. Unless the weather is nasty, if you really want to have a good chat with me the smoking area is your best bet because I can actually hear you. (I am a polite smoker and happy to change position or location to make people comfortable. Just speak up!)

If we're talking inside or at a restaurant there's a 25% chance that I have no idea what you're saying and am hoping I'm nodding at the right times and not offending you or looking like a moron.

I will have a few copies of my book with me, if you want to buy one. They were my comp copies (I got plenty for friends and family and myself) so all proceeds go to me. However, I'm not officially selling at the con, so most of them will be in my car with maybe one in my purse.)

I will not have any honey this year. Long story.

My first thing is a game demo from 2 PM to 4PM:

And That's How Equestria Was Made
Watch fan writers become the Mane Six and try to explain to Princess Celestia why things went horribly wrong. Then, it's your turn to help tell a story!
Location: Harmony Plaza: Neighborhood Stage

...this is Bad Horse's doing, with me, Themaskedferret, horizon, blagdross, GaPJaxie, and Applejinx as his minions.

Later, at 9:30PM, I have a proper panel with AugieDog and horizon:

From Pony Fic to Original Fic: Moving Between Worlds
Join published authors and fanfic writers to discuss the similarities and differences between original fiction and fanfiction, and the rewards and obstacles that come with shifting from one to the other.
Location: Hall of the Planets

Then I'm free. Freeeee!

...until I turn into a pumpkin at midnight, or shortly thereafter. I'm staying outside of Baltimore with my sister, and I don't like to come in too late.

Saturday, I have nothing planned, and can potentially make it any time, anywhere. Invite me to come to a panel with you! Or take a spin around the dealer room! Or let me know you want to hang out!

Sunday is up in the air. I'm driving home Sunday, but it's only a 2 1/2 hour drive. Depending on how things are going I might show up later, skip out early, or skip Sunday entirely. Let me know if you want me for anything!

Put me down for a copy of the book. I've had a bad case of "I needto" on buying it to this point. (I need to do this someday. I need to do that someday.) My wife *might* be coming along, depending on the world, although she plans on loafing at the pool, reading, and maybe going to the aquarium instead of ponies.

Having never been there before (Bronycon or Baltimore), do you have to register for events or just drop in?

4621982
Everything I'm aware of is "just drop in," though for the big things like VA panels there's often a serious line.

I'll be there. I should definitely be able to cut into your pariah time.

4621989 Introverts of the world, unite!

....wait a minute.

4621986
I'll be at BronyCon. I'd be willing to purchase a copy of your book. May I get a basic description of what you look like so I can narrow down my search for you?

I'm willing to hang with you, so long as you don't mind me rambling about crazy ships. 'Cause I've got the craziest ships.

Yay! Check your messages--WillowWren and I will see you there :twistnerd:

4622034
I look more or less like this. I'm also very short, and if my hair is down, it's very, very long (it might be in a braid, depending on how it's behaving.)

4622062
Is that the same name that will appear on your name tag?

4622083
My name tag will say bookplayer, so that much is easy. :ajsmug:

4622134
Awesome! I look forward to meeting you.

I am very awkward and have a difficult time maintaining long-form conversation, but will be happy to say hello and possibly purchase a copy of your book if you still have any when/if I find you!

I'm looking forward to Quills & Sofas this year!

...I say every year, and then talk to no one. Ah well, I'll certainly try to attempt conversation with you.

4622219
I'll know you this year, because you're the Guy Who Looks Like Andy!

Have fun over there! I'll be stranded a very long distance away, alas

I had a dream where I was going to a MLP con in New York. The only thing I remember was going with two people that I know here.

If we're talking inside or at a restaurant there's a 25% chance that I have no idea what you're saying and am hoping I'm nodding at the right times and not offending you or looking like a moron.

"I was fired last week and my house is foreclosing."
Bookplayer nods and smiles.

Ha! I've played that game before, that you're doing a panel with, it's a lot fun! You guys will have a blast.

Looking forward to chilling and chatting. I want to see how hard it is to push you into a shipping rant. ^.^ Let me know if you're ever friendless for a meal or panel!

4622219
Boy I know the feeling. I shall find you, and talk with you!
Ceaselessly.
Unendingly.
Forever.

Oh, God, this. A million times this. My good ear is almost as bad as my bad ear, and even with my hearing aid, loud environments just kill me. I've learned to read people's faces and laugh when they look like they're about to. SO for all I know, I may be laughing at someone dying.

Count me in for the book, if you have one, please! And if you get there in time, my panel on media interaction is on Friday at 1100. I'd love to see you there, otherwise I'll hang with you in the smoking area. I recently quit, but I have enough willpower to hang out.

Hap

Dying people are the best to laugh at, because they usually can't fight back!

I'm sure we can come to some sort of social arrangement. :raritywink: I'll even take one of those books off your hands.

Why in blue blazes is the Writer's Dinner during your panel?! So not fair.

My first thing is a game demo from 2 PM to 4PM:

Oh. Thank you for pointing out to me that our event is now supposed to be two hours long. :rainbowderp:

Have fun! See you when you get back.

I will likely fhwump down next to you in a seat at some point... and maybe try to drag you off to Heroes of Equis with Jake on Saturday.

Be afraid. Be very afraid.

Looks like I'll be there Friday and Saturday. I'll try to stop by. I'm bringing my daughter two friends (all Civil Air Patrol cadets) but they should be fine on their own.

I will do visitings when I am free but well! Busybusybusy but you are high on my SAY HI list!
