Too long of a chapter? · 2:35am Jul 30th, 2017
I see other authors break up large chapters into multiple parts but I never really got why. Currently chapter 19 of Broken then Healed is at 7000+ words and looks like hitting 10k is not out of reason. Is that too much? I can cut it in half or well two pieces but honestly the chapter doesn't really feel done at that point.
Personally I would.look at the mean length of the chapters and base it around that. Maybe split it up into part 1 and part 2. It is ultimately up to you. The author ShortSkirtsand explosions has all sorts of chapter lengths in his stories, so it's not as uncommon as you think that a chapter can be way more than the others in the same story.
If it takes 10k to write to make it sound good, then so be it. As long as you don't have horrendous grammar or spelling mistakes, I will still read it.

I think you read my story so the quality will be about the same as usual. I might even edit it, well more than spell check and a quick skim...which is probably a good thing...
Main reason for splitting is to put out more chapters with greater frequency.
My usual take is "if the chapter isn't done then it's not done." I'd just look at the story and not the word count.... unless you think you might end up with a whole novel length chapter but I get the idea that's not the case here
