An Epilogue is Coming · 10:33pm Jul 28th, 2017
So dontcha all worry none.
Me to myself: You shouldn't give into peer pressure. You made a decision so stick by it.
Myself: Yeah but this whole story was written because of peer pressure.
Me: ...well you got me there.
So! It's coming even though I didn't reeeeeeally wanna write one. I kinda had in mind that the two timelines merged back after the Elements went off so there was no more but Shipmun said I might get tarred and feathered if I made that the official ending.
I didn't originally want to write it because I just couldn't think of anything that wouldn't open up the floodgates to demand a sequel or close off sequel opportunities forever. Like you all pointed out: There are a lot of things that have to be tied up. But those are completely different plots that in verse might take years to solve. Political stuff, gross.
I didn't want to start any of that and leave it half done. And I didn't want to make another story arc in this story cause... ho boy... let me tell you what a runaway train this story was. I had a beginning and an end in mind. Zero idea how to get there. Scootaloo was going to show up at one point... Rarity's chapter took months to even conceive... it was a mess to write... and if I wrote any farther than we wouldn't have a flimsy paper thin plot frame, oh no, we'd be in a vacuum of a plot frame. Negative zero. Bad news.
Anyway the point was the story of them finding their destinies and realigning the time stream more-or-less is over. So the complete tag will stay. BUT I will write a short feel good epilogue for all of you that have stuck by me this long and just want a bit of closer. It should be done in a couple of days? Maybe? Shipmun (me editor) is on vacation so we'll have to wait on him. And a sequel is not out of the question but I will need time to plan it for once.
Also... I might want to write a different story once and awhile... though I have no idea what made this one so popular...
We have come full circle people.
I love you all. Thank you for reading. Sorry if it ended bad see I told you I should have never ended it people hate endings and I hope you had some fun.

Thanks very much for this message. :-D And Yeah, I would have respected your decision one way or the other, but I really DO deeply appreciate this.
To be honest, this would've be fine by me, had there been any indication that this is what happened, but I don't believe that to have been the case. It just seemed like a rather abrupt 'cut to black'.
Well, I wish you for the best, I know how it feels to write a story with a beginning and an ending but not having a cent of an idea on how to get there, I'm suffering that with my second story right now, I hope the reward is satisfying.

Um wouldn't it effectively mean that it ended the world? Else you have the canon ponies with the memories of what they did in the AU suddenly inserted into their heads. The first negates the entire point of the story and effectively is suicide, the second requires an epilogue and floodgates of reactions on its own, to have catharsis.

I suppose that depends on your interpretation. I would consider it more a restoration, than an end. Think the Star Trek: Voyager episode "Relativity". Google it, if mediocre SciFi isn't your thing. Essentially, the AU would simply be absorbed back into the MU. A few might remember, but most will not.
Edit: Incidentally, this would also essentially return those killed or maimed as a consequence of NMM's reign back to full health.
Oh it's cool man.
I think what we all wanted was just something that 'would' say what the future of this world could be, but FOR ME i just want that.
What are the ramifications of Luna coming back, what is going to happen to all those soliders who worked with the Nightmare.
The future is uncertain, but we need to know where Celestia is, if she is coming back is she hurt or tired .
What is her reaction to seeing the main 6 and Luna.
I think after this any 'sequels' could be a dream in a memory, the main 6 will handle it.
Sorry if we have been stressing you out.
You have made a really great story.
Don't attempt to tie up every plot thread. This story was never about the world, it was about Rainbow Dash and the rest of the main 6. So make the epilogue about them. Everything else should be just as much in the background as it was throughout the rest of the story.
At least, that's where I think it should end. It would tie up the story, clarify that what happened, but still leaves a lot of plot threads that could be continued in the future.
Of course, if you want to make the timelines realign then then go ahead, that could also be a fun ending that ties things up.
