Wow, that received some positive attention pretty fast!
I'm glad you guys like my dumb story about horses doing science on a half-dead occultist so far. I've been going through some really hard times over the past week or so, moving out of my apartment and dealing with a crippling depressive episode, and writing this has been a good distraction from it all. I only plan for this to be 9 chapters long, and to take maybe a couple weeks to push out tops, but I'd like to have a sequel revolving around crossovers with other Displaced fics. Barring something else, I'll be posting Chapter 3, where the rationalfic elements start to come in to play, tomorrow.
Until then, I'm enjoying making my goofy responses to your comments and watching the view and like meters go up. :3
Edit: finished writing the chapter. It's 8,000 words, all first-person and horses. Will post after I've had a chance to look it over.

Ah, well, that's pretty much going to be an ongoing theme in this story. Meta no longer has a default physical form, and is just raw potential, so things ranging from turning into a pony to evoking body horror are just going to be second nature to her...

Chapter 3 goes back into the perspective of the self-modifying entity in the box. In this chapter, I discuss the nature of consciousness and sentience, the neurological basis of emotions and memories, cognitive biases and emotional weaknesses, existential horror, pretty pony hair, Saṃsāra, the AI in a box conundrum, Ethics, and Logic. Also, IT'S MADE OF FUKKIN' PONIIEESS!
I finished writing it just now, but I like to look my work over with a fresh mind before I share it, so I won't be submitting it until tonight.

Not gonna lie i'd normally have to look up half of what you mentioned but I could probably the gist of it when I actually read the chapter. Managed to get throught Methods of Rationality just fine anyway so that should count for something right?
