Good news, all.
It appears that I have nothing to worry about in regards to my computer. I have changed all of my passwords as I said I would, I have not seen any strange activity on my email account, and I have run several virus scans with them all coming up clean. I did think I had a browser hijacker for a while, but what I think actually happened is that, when I updated all of my antivirus programs that needed updating, one of them had an option to make this strange browser my default one while searching on the internet. I was able to delete it and switch my settings back to normal, and running a few last virus scans to be doubly sure still did not turn up anything.

I am happy to hear that your computer is running well. :) I recently had some trouble with my own PC so I know how it feels not to have working technology. :(

Yeah, it's never fun. Fortunately, I do have another computer that I can use if I have to.

And yes, I was able to fix my computer. I downloaded the operating system again and have been restoring all of the programs. :)
