Good evening. It's currently midnight where I am, and I have decided to make use of this time by making a blog post.

    ...Hey, Wait a Second

I haven't bothered even so much as glancing at this site or its posting rules for about a year or so, but something seems a little different.

That is, one of the rules against what may not be posted was not there when I left.

'For example: a Halo crossover with the same plot, scenes, dialogue, etc. but with the characters replaced by ponies.'

Story Ideas (And Which Ones I'm Working On) · 7:55am Jul 18th, 2017

Good evening. It's currently midnight where I am, and I have decided to make use of this time by making a blog post.

For the past month or so, I've been staying up this late (regularly until 2:00 AM), so until I break that habit, I've been trying to soften the long hours with periodic bits of writing.

This is how Don't Let Go came about, along with The Universe is Big - the former, being an intentionally semi-dark story, the latter originally intended to be a light-hearted romp through the wider universe surrounding the planet of My Little Pony. There's a pretty good chance I'll change the name to something more appropriately...contemplative, I guess, and do so with the chapter name as well. Just so you know it's coming.

If you've gone through my favorites, then you might have noticed that I've favorited a few TwiDash stories. If you didn't, then now you know: I ship it. RariJack and FlutterPie occasionally accompany this, so I've come to appreciate those as well.

(If you could, let me know what you ship if you ship at all - I might try writing something around the suggested pairing, who knows.)

So, getting to the point of this post, I'm going to let everyone know what I've got in store, and whether or not you can expect me to ever actually publish them.

I'm big on AUs, by the way.

The Night Life - (Probably) Working on it
IN A WORLD WHERE TWO PRINCESSES made up instead of resorting to the Elements of Harmony to battle dark magic fuckery, Equestria has two cultures within it, all surrounding a singular concept: day and night.

The three original races - Earth, Pegasus, and Unicorn - have kind of adjusted to this, where there are day variants of each, and night variants of each. As you might imagine, day variants have vibrant, explosive colors, while night variants have tame, alluring colors. The only ones who have major differences are the pegasi, because night pegasi are bat ponies, and day pegasi are...pegasi. Just ordinary winged horses.

I want to make more differences for the unicorns and earth ponies, but it's a very new idea.

Anyways, it's going to center around Rainbow Dash after she's been displaced due to a filing error in the higher-up departments. I haven't written anything for it yet, but sometimes you've got an idea and you've got no choice but to write it down as soon as you can.

From Canterlot, With Love - I'm trying (but it's taking a while)
This one's been difficult to write.

It's an alternate universe where Nightmare Moon does a smart thing and turns Twilight to stone (and other things to other important ponies), thereby preventing her from retrieving the elements of harmony. However, this is also an incredibly stupid move. Why?

Twilight Velvet, Sparkle's mother, has just heard the news, and is now on a warpath.

We'd go into the other ponies that would show up, which would consist of treasure hunters, survivalists, and show-offs (I.E., Daring Do, Rainbow Dash) who inevitably discover the Tale of the Two Sisters and prepare to venture into the wilderness upon the edge of the Everfree. While the AU where Nightmare Moon takes over is lovely, it's kind of dumb to assume that no other band of ponies could possibly qualify for the elements, and even dumber to assume that no pony in Equestria would read a foal's story book and put the pieces together - and DUMBEST to assume that, with a book explicitly titled Elements of Harmony: A Reference Guide, nopony would figure out where they were.

Just, so many problems with that timeline. But whatever.

So, it's Twilight's mom and dad (the latter tagging along to make sure his wife doesn't pick a fight with a goddess) with a cast of I-don't-know-yet ponies that would sub in as other Elements of Harmony.

Shadows Over Canterlot - I've written one chapter (and have no idea how to proceed)
The villain is an OC.

For those of you who are still interested, the villain isn't a pony - or maybe he was, once. Or maybe he's always been like this. Either way, he's a hyper-malleable silhouette of a bird that either calls itself Entropy or Fell. Can't decide which. He's the extreme of Control to Discord's chaos - under his rule, everypony had a single job, as designated by him, the supreme overseer.

Cutie Marks came from his defeat as a manifestation of destiny - of what a pony is meant to do, and as a guiding light to those in the dark. Basically, it was magic itself giving ponies an easy out to figure out what they really wanted to do for a living, and also giving the middle finger to Entropy for trying to make ponies do what HE wanted them to do.

He was imprisoned in the dream realm, and now that he's back, cutie marks are vanishing and special talents are going right with them. It's a problem.

Princess Luna is on the clock to save the rest of Equestria (and herself) from a new totalitarian regime, jumping from dream to dream to catch pieces Entropy has left behind and finally confront the big bad himself; possibly alone. But, damnit, she has to try.

Somepony has to try.

Family Visit - It'll happen (eventually)
Twilight's parents, brother, and prospective sister-in-law show up in Ponyville to give their little Twily's new friends a look-over for themselves.

Lots of protective family stuff.

Not a lot to say about it, other than that I really want to write this one, but it's going to take a while to finish.

Check Yes - WIP (it'll probably be the first I finish)
TwiDash. The entire thing is a reference to Check Yes, Juliet by We Three Kings.

Moving on.

It Takes Two to Tango - The first chapter is written (and again, where do I go from here?)
Twilight and Rainbow were picked up by Celestia's Academy and the Wonderbolts, respectively, for their enormous talent and potential as fillies. They suck at working together.

Now they have to stop Nightmare Moon, because while Celestia has some questions for why fate is doing this to her, she must believe in it regardless; the Elements of Harmony won't activate themselves, unfortunately.

I'm kind of working on it, but it's an entirely mental workforce, trying to figure out how to make this work out how I want it to.

Strained Relations - It's kind of written (it's kind of not)
If you write an alternate universe fic, be warned: it can become TOO alternate for FiMFiction.

This one involves Twilight and Rainbow Dash in a loving sister relationship (no incest, I promise) working out issues between each other after having returned to Equestria after an indeterminate amount of time.

Originally, it was just going to be them replacing Celestia and Luna, but then it ended up turning into a Crystal Empire thing where they're the Crystal Sisters, and it all got out of hand very quickly. I don't even know what I'm looking at anymore.

You probably won't see it, ever, but maybe you've got suggestions for how I can work it out.

True Self - Entirely because I had a single scene in mind (and I don't know if I like it)
Zaros, the Empty Lord, finds himself in Equestria after his assassination.

That's it. That's the whole story.

I've been debating with myself whether he should show up during the show, or before. I've been leaning towards before, if only because I want to make a satisfactory damn backstory to Luna and Celestia's ascensions.

I'm not working on it, but it's waiting in the wings.

And that's everything I'm working on. Thanks for reading.
