    A much better story idea.

I was watching Isaac Arthur's video on First Contact with an alien civilization video the other day. It really got my mind going about how a lot of first contact stories I've read here are rather unrealistic.

    Story idea contemplation b5/fim

I've been thinking about a Babylon 5/ FIM crossover for a while. However I have some issues with trying to cross them over.

A much better story idea. · 6:07am Jul 16th, 2017

I was watching Isaac Arthur's video on First Contact with an alien civilization video the other day. It really got my mind going about how a lot of first contact stories I've read here are rather unrealistic.

What would it look like if a story followed a more scientifically accurate scenario as logically as we can assume things would go given our current understanding? The major flaw I saw with that idea is if everything goes right, then the story has no conflict and you end up with the movie Contact.. Which I hated with a passion.

Then I realized you could have characters acting rationally and still create drama by simply throwing in a third party organization to the mix with its own agenda.. And then to complicate things a bit more throw in a fourth party. Then I realized with all these parties Pinkie's going to need a big role in the story.

Right now its barely a skeleton of a story, but I think its one that interests me enough, and with a plot that's hopefully good enough to cover up the fact that I don't know how to write a story.

First chapter if I keep to a good schedule may be out in August. Or never not really sure but I'm gonna give it the good old college try.

Sounds fun will any of these parties have cake, and the later parties should have cider. Don't you think. Actually best case scenario and you still have tons of tension, because of cultural divides. Even if both sides are achieving the best case scenario would they know it. Then throw in secular companies and religious institutions to any first contact and you got tons of drama and conflict. Oui?

Wow, your like a mind reader, I figured having a secular and religious divide within humanity would help bring a lot of the conflict to the story.

Especially since the one thing that humanity will obviously not know is that Celestia and Luna move the sun and moon before they show up. Even if they do know it I doubt they would believe it, In the story world humanity has been receiving radio broadcasts from Equestria so they do know a lot before they show up, and are trying their hardest to show up peacefully after what happened after their last first contact.

Time will tell if I ever put this idea to paper though. When the idea was fresh I was really determined to do it. But I haven't written in forever, hopefully someday it will be written or perhaps another idea will be.
