Chapter 6 Part 2 is here

Yeah, that took me a while, huh? XD. Sorry about that, just wanted to make sure it was all working out well and good before publishing it. This chapter does a lot of things for Daybreak that I originally intended, including a straight man for the shenanigans of our dearly beloved couple of Shadow Rift and Aryanne. This one is a lot more character driven, plenty of discussion, so if that's your

    Vectoring!

That's right... I decided to experiment around and wound up making what you see as my new avatar! It's not perfect and it's a little rough around the edges, but otherwise, I'm happy with how it came out.

Another while... yeesh... (Discussing DIYE, Daybreak, Venia, and beyond)

Suppose I’ll begin again by another apology. Yeah, me and apologies seem to go hand in hand... err... hoof n’ hoof with one another. Just know that the reason behind this is that a lot of various issues arose that caused me to put a hold on many of the projects I was working on. Real life, girlfriend moving in, dog raising/pseudo-parenting... some projects going up in flames and others down the

    Been a while huh? (Project announcement/Seeking Pre-Readers)

Hey guys. yeah, it’s been another while, and I honestly can't explain it all away in just one blog post. At this point, it may just seem redundant. However, my absence doesn't mean lack of productivity... entirely anyways. For those of you interested in where I've been and what I've been doing, as well as plans for this next upcoming story, continue on after the page break.

Spider-Man: Homecoming Review · 5:11pm Jul 14th, 2017

I'm fully well aware of the fact that this is coming out pretty late, especially for someone like me who is a huge Spider-Man fan boy... but I just wanted to let the movie sink in a little bit so that I could digest the movie and really let it all sink in.

Anyways, Spider-Man: Homecoming is Marvel's latest movie to hit the silver screen, which stars Tom Holland as Peter Parker trying to balance his life between being Spider-Man and a student, while also trying to do his best to prove to Tony Stark that he can be an Avenger by taking on the Vulture, played by Micheal Keaton, and ending his illegal distribution of modified alien technology/weaponry.

I watched the movie a week ago with my girlfriend of now two years, and, long story short, we both feel in love with this movie when we first watched it. I didn't immediately want to make a review of it because I knew I'd be too excited to really present a real review and analysis of the movie, so I watched it again with my best friend, this time watching it as some trying desperately hard to forget he was a Spider-Man fan. And in doing so, I felt that this movie was a great way to get me attached to the character of Spider-Man even if I have never heard of or really cared about him before.

(Quick note right here as well. The movie producers and sound department also did something really cool where they created an orchestral version of the 1960's Spider Man theme. It's dumb and all, but they really did their best to make it sound great... and it works. I love how they introduce the movie that way, with a remade version of the most famous superhero theme ever made next to Batman 66's. I'll put the video at the end, and I highly recommend listening to it.)

Spider-Man: Homecoming does something that I feel DC fails at doing with its teenage or younger characters in the television shows. It actually shows Peter Parker trying his best to be a superhero in his own right without being annoying or right all of the time. By that I mean when Peter screws up and does something stupid, there are consequences for his actions and he needs to own up to them. However at the same time, you understand why exactly he does some of the things he does. He isn't arrogant or annoying like Wally West or Jessie Quick in the Flash, constantly going against his authority figure for some inanely stupid reason... Peter does it because he doesn't feel as though Tony or Happy Hogan are listening to him and just wants to impress them.

He wants to be an Avenger, he wants to be a hero, and you really see that and understand why he does some of the stuff he does even if it isn't the best thing to do. Peter, in my opinion, succeeds where characters like Wally or Jessie in CW's Flash fail horrendously.

Speaking of the character of Spider-Man and Peter Parker, Tom Holland portrays both incredibly. I've said time and time again that Tobey Maguire has been my all time favorite Spider-Man, and after seeing this movie, I still believe that. But what Tom Holland does comes so close to Tobey Maguire's portrayal that both can play a game of pool with one another. Tom Holland's acting as the shy and nervous kid around his friends, but the wise cracking, sarcastic, but friendly Spider-Man makes him just as great as Tobey Maguire and so far ahead of Andrew Garfield's portrayal it's ridiculous.

Micheal Keaton as The Vulture is honestly really awesome as well, but I will say as a bit of spoilers here that he isn't the only villain in this movie. I won't say who else is in this movie, but I will say pay attention to the small stuff. Thankfully he doesn't go insane like any of the other villains in previous Marvel movies and has a very clear motivation for doing the things he does.

(As a matter of fact, that's the best way to summarize Spider-Man: Homecoming, look out for the small stuff.)

One of my favorite things that this movie does is right in the beginning portion of it, where Peter Parker goes out on his first patrol as Spider-Man . Here we get to see him tying to be more of the vigilante looking over everyone, but instead winding up as the helpful citizen. As a bit more spoilers, one of my favorite things he does is actually offer a woman directions to some inexplicable place, and as thanks, she buys him a churro. That isn't just funny, but it also marks what Spider-Man is known for. He isn't just some guy going around beating up crooks and bad guys, but he is also a guy trying to help others in anyway. Even if it's as mundane or small as helping an old woman by giving her directions to some place, he'll still do it because he's a good person. Spider-Man is about that, and that's what I really love about his character...

Watching him also try out his suit's different abilities, like that little drone he has as well as interact with an AI fully integrated into the suit (another comic relief character that I love to death), is so much fun to watch as well.

The high school portion of the movie is also handled really well. As a matter of fact, I will go on record right now and say that Spider-Man: Homecoming portrays high school better than any other movie or story I have ever seen or read. Maybe not the actual social part, but the actual high school part. Low budget equipment and technology, teachers who barely give a damn, teasing and mocking usage profanity language (Of whom Zendaya's character does a lot of. Be prepared to get flipped off by a Disney actor...), terrible News Segments that are acted poorly, and most of all, Comic Sans...

(There's something else in there involving PSA's and Captain America. I'm not going to give away too much, but let me just say, next to Stan Lee's appearance in the movie, those are the highlights of the movie... especially the Easter egg at the end of the credits. It's the biggest middle finger I've ever gotten, but it's so funny I can't help but smile every time I see it... )

To get back on topic though, seriously, for those of you going into High School, don't watch High School Musical expecting that to be your high school experience. Watch Spider-Man: Homecoming and expect THAT to be what you get. Add a few kids smoking weed in the bathroom and getting drunk off their asses in the back of the building and you'll get my high school wrapped up in a nice little bow tie.

Anyways, that's honestly all I really have to say at the moment. Spider-Man: Homecoming is the best Spider-Man movie to come out in the past 13 years, it perfectly represents everything people like me love about the character, has a great cast, humor, great action scenes, story, and is the best way to bring Spider-Man back home where he belongs in the MCU. Thank you Marvel for doing this and managing to make Sony give you back your character. Sony... take notes from Homecoming and learn how NOT to write stories revolving around Spider-Man...

And CW... TAKE NOTE OF HOW NOT TO WRITE A TEENAGE OR YOUNG CHARACTER!

With all of that said, I give Spider-Man Homecoming an 8.7 out of 10. It's great, but it isn't perfect... there are things in there to nitpick, but the time you'll have with Spider-Man in this movie is so great, nitpicking won't even be a problem...

So, that was my take away from the film. What did you guys think? Love it or hate it?

(There you are! It's cheesy and stupid, but damn if it isn't awesome! Who says Marvel can't have fun with their movies?!)
