    Oh, look, a chapter

Oh, hey, I actually managed to squeeze out a chapter with the usual strategy of "pulling an all-nighter with bloodymindedness and chocolate." And I actually kinda like it.

Apologies to Letedwend for not showing it to him first, since he's actually the pre reader and all.

    Okay, that didn't work

Very well then. First of all, I am very sorry. I really wanted to get it done, but it was a bit harder than expected. The thing is, I need to move on from establishing conflict, and start working towards resolutions, and I'm not really sure how to handle that. I really need to expand my skill sets, which means that progress so far has been way slower than I want it to be.

    Let's do this. Again.

I got a laptop with high speed internet on my desk, a Red Bull and chocolate bar in my hand and a Discworld novel fresh in my memory. From my lips to God's ears, there will be a new chapter of Dude, We're Ponies in the next 24 hours.

The people at Equestria Daily are rather cool people

I take it that, whoever might be reading fanfiction about a girly cartoon series must be some kind of 'internet person'. As an internet person, you are probably familiar with Duke Nukem Forever, and you may have heard how some stores accepted ten year old pre-orders, basically giving the game away for free because they were just that nice. That kind of thing sort of happened to me just now.

Aaaaaaand back again! · 8:46pm Oct 8th, 2012

Oh, man, how long has it been this time? A month? Well, I guess I'm getting better. Yeah, I really should stop making promises. I have a nasty habit of breaking them.

So, what have I been up to? Well, I've been moving. Because of my status as a college drop-out, I could no longer stay at my old address, and now I had to find a new place real quick-like. The added stress didn't do much good to my creative thinking, and I once again got suck in the vortex of self-loathing.

Thanks to my dad, I've managed to move pretty smoothly about a week ago. During the following weekend, I've recharged my batteries by rereading 6 volumes of Oh, My Goddess (truly a classic in the magical girlfriend subgenre), rewatching The Tatami Galaxy (best anime ever) and playing two rounds of Princess Maker 2 (writer and royal concubine, if you were wondering. No, I have no idea how that one happened).

Anyhow, amongst all this Japanese awesomeness, I've managed to scrape together some creative energy. The next chapter is currently with the proofreader, and I hope you'll enjoy it. I've been trying something a little different this time, so I hope it turned out well. I was forced to cut it a little short, though. This part of story would go on for far longer than I could fit in a single chapter, and this would be the only natural resting point for quite a while.

And there I go again, blabbering about my creative process, even though you haven't read the newest chapter yet. I'll be back with some more thoughts once you've actually seen it.

Peace out!

Glad to have you back!

I'm glad your doing fine. I never read the Oh my Goddess Manga but I have all the TV series , OAV, movie, and even the Mini Goddess series on DVD. I think it time I give the manga a try.:scootangel:

410421 Would you believe that the Ah My Goddess was the first anime I saw (apart from pokemon and dragonball z years before that)?

It's a funny story, really, though I'm probably the only one that thinks so. An online friend of mine was already into anime, and I was curious about what got him so hooked. So I googled for a site that streamed anime (because there's no way I had the money to buy stuff just to satisfy my curiosity), and sure enough I found a site that listed a whole bunch of series in alphabetical order.

So I clicked on a series that my friend recommended, but the link was dead. So I tried another recommendation, only to find another dead link. This repeated three more times until I got few up and started clicking on every link until I found one that worked, which ended up being Ah My Goddess.

Looking back on it, I am really glad it happened the way it did. Watching an animated romantic comedy was a new experience for me (being an awkward teen that was desperate not to seem 'gay'), but one I thoroughly enjoyed. Since my friend was recommending stuff like Naruto and other typical shonen stuff (which I came to hate), I probably wouldn't have gotten into anime (and Japanese stuff in general) if Lady Luck didn't decide to show me something else instead.

It's so weird how life happens sometimes.

Anyhow, when I came across a bookshop that carried the manga volumes, I couldn't help myself and bought as many as I could afford. They are very old-fashioned, but still very much the birth of a subgenre. Very recommendable.
