    One Last Update

Hey all. As my last blog said, and as you've probably noticed, I've basically left the site. Comments from me are very rare and I expect blogs (like this one) will be even rarer. But interesting times have gotten even more interesting, so I'm back for one final message.

    Black Lives Matter, my dudes.

    Updates, and Endings

Been a while, eh? A part of me wants to put a joke there, maybe a "kept you waiting, huh?" reference, but I don't think this is the blog for it.

Just a heads up, this isn't going to be a fun blog.

    Galacon Was Fun

Well, strictly speaking, Galacon itself was a massive let-down. Only a single writing-related panel during the entire convention and it was awful. It was also apparently part two, when part one happened last year? Bloody stupid.

But that's ok, because I had the good sense to stay away from that nonsense, and hung out with some cool Horse People instead.

So, last time I posted an actual blog was during the period where I was working 8-12 hour shifts every day for a period of over six weeks, with a whopping 0 days break.

It sucked. But it kept finding ways to suck more.

I got a grand total of three days off, during that period. Which is, admittedly, three days more than I was expecting, which is nice. Less nice is that my unexpected holiday was a result of a serious chest infection which left me hospitalised at 3am on saturday morning. Which was about as fun as it sounds.

And even now, a good month and a half since I finished that small slice of hell, I'm struggling. People who talked to me during that period know that I was absolutely shattered as a result of the unforgiving work, but things like that are temporary.

Less temporary is the fact that, after an emergency trip to an out-of-hours doctor, I'm having to look in to treatment for carpal tunnel syndrome.

So, lesson to be learned, here, kids. Know your limits, and if your boss (or even both your bosses, like me) try to push you past them, say no. If the very worst comes to past, a lost job is temporary. Injuries from when you push yourself too far... well, they may not be.

Don't be dumb, kids. Don't be like me.

I seriously need to do the same.

The fact I haven't collapsed is a fucking miracle.

Yowch. Good luck, with that. If you catch it early enough there are non-invasive treatments.

I totally understand. I over-schedule myself and overwork myself to the point of burnout way more than I'd like.

Take care of yourself, Plum. If not for yourself, but your friends.

Don't forget to fill out a worker's comp form. You shouldn't have to pay a penny for that carpal tunnel (assuming it's work-related). I mean... if it works the same on your side of the pond.

Are you out of the woods? More normal schedule now?

Carpal tunnel syndrome? Yuck. Hope it's early/mild because that can be a nightmare.

Get well soon, Plum! =o

Ugh. Uuuuuuuuuuuggggghhh. Good recovery thoughts. :(

Ouch. :twilightoops: Get (and ideally stay) well. Take more days off soon, if possible, Days spent sprackling are the superbest medicine.
