Review Roundup: May 22nd - June 30th · 12:11am Jul 3rd, 2017

It's Tour de France time! That magical month when I get up early every morning, even though I don't have to go to work. Thank goodness I don't live on the west coast; I don't think I could handle getting up at 5:00 AM (earlier, on mountain stages!) day after day without even the promise of a paycheck to reward me for it.

It's a bittersweet Tour for me, too, because Thomas Voeckler has already announced that it'll be his last. His first Tour, in 2004, was also the first one I watched, and his gutsy ten-day defence of the yellow jersey was absolutely compelling. I fell in love with his humble cheekiness, and have rooted for him ever since. The race won't be the same without him, and his bevy of ridiculous expressions.

But for these next few weeks, at least, he's still here, and I intend to enjoy his presence while I can. Catch a few stages of the Tour if you're up in the mornings (American-time), and if you need something to read while checking out the cycling, try some of these reviews from the past month on for size:

Somehow, I just can't get excited about a bunch of guys on bikes. Now give them all Harley-Davidsons...

I'm glad to see you're as enthusiastic about 81 Days as I was. It's really a magnificent story.
