Twilight's Garden: Complete · 9:36pm Jun 20th, 2017
Twilight Sparkle and her best friends have been sent to the paradise islands of Iluikatliltik for over a month so that Twilight can learn the secrets of the ancient Iluikatliltik ponies—a tribe who have mastered Earth Pony magic like no other culture has.
Each of her companions has a role to play... although it just might not be the one they wanted.
But really, what else could Applejack's role be?
This marks my completion of GapJaxie's commission.
As I mentioned before, he set me an impossible task... well, not really. It was just really hard for me to figure out how to do this one. His request was: "Make Applejack the most important pony, and Twilight jealous of her."
That was it. Nothing else. No guidance no anything. He released me into the wild and I... I had a really, really... really... really... tough time on how to make this work. AJ and I have a weird relationship. I don't dislike her at all, but I feel her character arc was mostly done and done by the time we got to see her. What has she really learned? "Don't be too stubborn."
Okay? Geez. I also couldn't for the life of me imagine her realistically in a position where she would make Twily jealous. Thus, it took me a while to even get started.
The toughest thing, however, was how to end this one, and I admit I screwed up the first time. I finished a chapter that included what I wanted to be the reason behind all the crazy... but I also treated it as the end when my gut was telling me it wasn't, and that I should write more.
Obviously, I got some well deserved whiplash out of that. I hope that the real ending makes up for it, but, well, it took some hits to get it through properly.
Anyway, I hope you guys enjoyed it if you read it already, and if you haven't and do, I'd like to hear your thoughts too!
