Miss Koi Reviews "Not Asking for Trouble" · 12:14am Jun 19th, 2017

I know that I might, just might, get some hate for this...but...I liked this episode WAY better than "Honest Apple" and "A Royal Problem". In fact, I gave this episode 8 hearts out of 10 <3 *ducking for cover, and saying quickly* Please don't hurt me!

Let me explain my kind and patient and understanding followers!:0

I enjoyed this episode WAY more than the two previous episodes because (mainly) 1) the humor, 2) the simple but sweet and nice character interaction, and 3) a simpler but more nicely tied up plot that helps the episode move along:) But mainly humorXD This episode was pretty funny in my opinion, but if you're one of those fans who are not a fan of the Yaks or Pinkie Pie or both, then this episode is not for you. Although, even though I wasn't really a fan of the Yaks to begin with, because of this episode, they kinda grew on me and I now found them pretty endearing:) They are certainly more likeable in this episode than in their premier episode where they were declaring war on everyponyXD

And of course, Pinkie Pie was at her best with her brand of humor. Her cheerful optimistic nature and her endurance through all the obstacles presented to her created great interactions with her between Gummy (by the way, nice surprise there writers for including him in the episode:D It's great seeing him and Pinkie Pie interacting again, they're so cute together:3) as well as, between her and Prince Rutherford:)

Speaking of Pinkie Pie and Rutherford,...haha lol okay okay XD, I know this is going to be weird, BUT...if you know me and my channel, weirder things have happenedXD But not to beat around the bush, I kinda ship Pinkie Pie x Prince RutherfordXD

(By TheFanFicPony)
Woah woah, before Cheesepie fans call me a traitor, please understand that I still ship Cheesepie <3 In fact, I ship Cheesepie first before this new ship. Think of it as this: I ship Pinkie Pie FIRST with Cheese Sandwich, and Prince Rutherford SECOND. I still want Cheesepie to happen FIRST. BUT, if the show decides to ship Pinkie x Rutherford, well...I wouldn't be opposed to it.

I think I ship this because well 1) two opposite species and two opposite personalities (*cough cough* like Fluttercord), 2) they write each other letters (*cough cough* like Fluttecord. Again.), 3) they help balance each other out by having Pinkie Pie teaching Prince Rutherford to be a bit more cheerful and happy and patient and understanding and more flexible, while Prince Rutherford teaches Pinkie Pie to be more honest with her feelings with others and be more assertive and just let her anger out when she needs to (*cough cough* kinda like how Fluttershy and Discord do for each other), 4) they are totally a couple you wouldn't expect to happen and actually get along and kinda come out of left park (*cough cough* Keep Calm Flutter On. The Start of Fluttercord. *Cough cough*!). Etc, etc, and ect. I think y'all get my point;) I have a soft spot for couples who remind me of my OTP;)

Man, what would their ship name be?:/ RutherPie? PinkieFord? PrincePie? PinkieRuther? Dang, I don't know:/ All that I know is that if these two were to have children together, they would be the fluffiest things ever createdXD

Wait a minute, the fluffiest things ever created...OMG guys!:0 This is where Fluffle Puff came from!:0 OMG, I figured it out!:0

The only nitpick that can be made on this episode, besides what I pointed out earlier, the presentation of the moral at the end of the episode. In order for Pinkie and the rest of the gang to help the Yaks, they had to keep it a secret and do it in the dead of night without the Yaks knowing. And the moral is that it's okay to ask for help. And then, Prince Rutherford thanks Pinkie Pie for helping them in that way because it means that Pinkie Pie respects their prideful nature, which I do admit, kinda hurts the moral. But I can see what the writer was doing there because it's always important to be mindful of other mindsets when it comes to problems that occur in their own respective group. However, I interpreted this scene as Prince Rutherford learning the moral of the episode in his own way, but not admitting to it. I think he and the rest of the Yaks subtlety learned the lesson of asking by seeing Pinkie Pie helping them despite their pride getting in the way. But, that's just my opinion.

Thanks for the input Sudoku, it was very much appreciated:)

An interesting view, but I think you might have missed the point of the moral. It isn't that it's okay to ask for help. They did that one already with "Applebuck Season."

This episode's moral is that sometimes you have to help without being asked. The yaks don't resent the help, but their pride would not allow them to ask for it. Pinkie shows she understands them by helping anyway and trying not to make it a big deal.

I actually think that's an interest and complex moral to learn. I've personally known people who would rather flounder helplessly with their troubles than ask for help and be thought of as weak or a freeloader, but they appreciate the help that is given freely because the helper wants to. The trick is knowing when such help would be welcome, which makes this a complicated moral about understanding your friends.

One might also consider this to be a moral about cultural understanding. It took me a long time to get down some cultural practices in Japan that I thought were pointless, but I followed them anyway because that's how you show respect to your hosts.

In any case, though, I agree: fun episode, and I like Pinkie's interactions with Rutherford (though in a platonic way; I don't ship them).

A small piece of me do ship them, but not a lot. Maybe there need to be a few more episodes of them interacting.

Ooohh, true:0 Very good point my friend, thank you for pointing that out:)

Well I wasn't trying to say that they resent help, though I'm sorry that it came out that way, but good point about Pinkie showing them that help can be such a small little deal at the end of the deal and nothing to fuss over:)

Ah okay, this definitely helps out the whole moral episode:) This makes more sense, and like you said, it provides a really good lesson for kids and adults to learn:) Plus, it provides more reason and rationale behind the Yaks actions and how Pinkie struggled throughout this episode because the trick is when help is wanted and true good deeds are shown when you don't ask to help someone, you just do it automatically almost in the moment and when it's truly needed with keeping in tact your respect to the other party in the process, thus making both parties learn something:) Thus, making both sides equal and not just having the Yaks learn something and the ponies are just perfect.

One might also consider this to be a moral about cultural understanding. It took me a long time to get down some cultural practices in Japan that I thought were pointless, but I followed them anyway because that's how you show respect to your hosts.

Well the reason why I like emphasizing the cultural understanding aspect of this show because I feel like its important for kids and adults to understand the reasoning why people of certain cultures do certain things. Everything has a reason or story behind it, just like our culture in the United States:) Being part Native American, my heritage has especially taught me that people in a specific culture have certain and especially important reasons why they do the things they do, and these reasons can help others appreciate their culture and want to learn about them:)

In any case, though, I agree: fun episode, and I like Pinkie's interactions with Rutherford (though in a platonic way; I don't ship them).

Haha lol that's okay, you don't have to ship them romanticallyXD I also welcome plationic shipping cause it's adorable:3
