Adventure Across Space: World Building notes

So, as you may have guessed this is a blog post for Adventures Across Space to help do some more world building for the story. This highlights some major events that have been mentioned and some that have yet to be mentioned in story, but eventually will. It eve helps link certain events that already transpired together for those who can figure it out. Other than that the next chapter should be out tonight, I hope. I get distracted by shiny things a lot so it's hard to stay focused sometimes. In either case I hope you all enjoy this little world building post and hope to see you all in the comments later! Main Crew
 
Captain Trixie Lulamoon. Master Engineer First Grade and Captain of the NX-20 warship Hydra. One of the youngest to earn the privilege of commanding a warship at an early age she leads her crew in a very narrominded fashion. Possibly to a fault Commander Octavia is her balance to command. She loves taking risks but wouldn’t ask her crew to do anything she isn’t willing to do herself. (Has severe emotional issues)
 
Commander Octavia Von Cleff. Second in command of the Warhsip Hydra. (Dating Trixie Lulamoon in secret) A more subtle officer when leading the crew octavia is a polar opposite when it comes to command style compared to Trixie. Not willing to take risks unless provoked, she often scolds Trixie for being brash and too impulsive. She once threatened to have Trixie removed from command after deeming her unfit for duty. (Despite being a commanding Officer octavia fears leading others for fear she will get them killed.)
 
Lt. Commdr Pinkie Pie. Hydra Chief Engineer and party planner. (Had party cannon taken away for excessive use while on duty.) Heh… he said ‘dooty”. PINKIE!!! A smart and great engineer despite have the attention span of a goldfish.
 
Lt. Vinyl Scratch. Science and APM specialist. Has fun with tinkering with experimental weaponry.
 
Lt. Sunny Smiles, AKA Sunset Shimmer. Replacement Science Officer specialist in xenobiology and virology. Hats her birth name and tried to tell everyone her name’s Sunset SHimmer, nt Sunny Smiles. (She hates to smile)
 
Lt. Claw. one of two griffins on the Hydra and is the weapons master, as well as quartermaster for the ship. His little sister Gabby is a power relay crewman.
 
Ensign Lyra Heartstrings: Communications crewman for the warship Hydra. Dabbles in xenobiology and xeno-anthropology.
 
3rd of 5. A changeling on the bridge crew and the only pilot for the Hydra currently, 3rd of 5 like most changelings have an almost singular collective mind. After the great purging many years ago changelings have adapted to be in small group collective minds and thus no individual holds an individual rank in the Equis Fleet. With few exceptions. 3rd of 5 is loyal to one pony and that’s Trixie.
 
MAREs Commandos
 
Major Spitfire. Former Wonderbolt Captain she now leads and regulates the MAREs Commandos for the warship Hydra. A kind but very strict leader she leads her commandos by example and holds them to the same standard she holds for herself. She heavily believes in the saying: lead by example.
 
Corporal Pansy. High ranking officer for Hydra’s MAREs Commandos. Has a not so subtle relationship with Private scope. A Bomber pilot and a demo-expert she has a very brash headstrong personality, but a gentle side she shows to very few.
 
Private Scope. The only stallion MAREs Commando and is often referred to by the other MAREs as the ‘beefstick’ of the group. A derogatory word for a male.
 
Major Silica: Unicorn and Clydesdale mixed nobility and a ranking officer in MAREs under major Spitfire. Like to pick fun on Private Scope, and dubbed him the “Beefstick” in their group. To what end no one knows. Explosives expert and ace pilot she hates Scope with a passion, but this leads many to question why she singles him out and no one else?
 
Minor characters
 
Star Stripe: Zebra in Pinkie’s engineering team who is as energetic as she is and just as odd. Loves to blow things up for no reason.
 
Mechloader Pony Stallion: This poor sap is always being hounded by Commander Octavia for being a clumsy fool, despite almost always being in a mech. (Has a bad habit of dropping photon torpedoes.)
 
Major Events in History
 
Founding of the Equestrian National Federation. A major alliance with most powerful nations of Equis that lead to a great advancement in technology, science, art, and eventually the space expansion projects such as Lunar Module One Landing of the moon.
 
Lunar Module One Landing. Funded by Princess Luna herself this major project was what paved the way to the great space race for the world of Equis. To this day it is considered one of three major points in the history of Equis Scape Development.
 
Disbanding of the Royal Guard and the Legionaries. After the Lunar Module One landing primitive military groups quickly became obsolete. Thus groups such as the Royal Guard, Luna Guard, and the Lunar Legionaries were disbanded. However some groups like the Wonderbolts were reformed into a modern military power. This has lead to many terrorist organizations forming saying that the development of technology was ruining their traditions and taking others life jobs from them. To an extent it’s true.
 
Development of the H-Drive. The development of the H-Drive is the pony equivalent to standard warps drives, but functions very differently. Instead of compressing space around the ship like a warp drive does, the H-Drive creates a stable event horizon and a portal called a, black hole with a determined end destination to it. More in line with a wormhole than an actual black hole, the term black hole was an early misconception of the H-Drive, but was later adopted since the H-Drive creates something as close to a black hole as possible without destroying the universe. (That’d be just silly)
 
The Great Purge. Not long after development of the H-Drive came along changelings had a internal power struggle. At the time only the nobility had individuality while drones were mindless extensions to the nobility of changelings. Yet, all nobility treated their drones like children and even held funerals for them. That all changed when Queen Amarith V released her hold over her drones and broke them into small groups with a designated leader. There were four such groups each lead and controlled by one of her four daughters, Lily Lace, Amarith VI, Pupa, and Chrysalis.

When this happened the entirety of the changelings changed too. Soon the hive of Amarith was more powerful than the rest. The developed their own culture reminiscent of ancient Japan’s feudal era mixed with modern technology and ways of thinking. This lead to other changelings fearing the Amarith would grow powerful enough to destroy them, and many feared she would.
 
The Purge refers to the moment when Amarith released her drones from her control and “purge” them from herself becoming the first truly single changeling entity. After words Amarith passed away due to severe depression from being disconnected from her drones and daughters. The daughters continue to this day to birth new drones, but now the drones are born free minded individuals. However years of mind linking forced the changelings to form small groups since every changeling is codependent on mind links by nature, otherwise they’d perish from depression.
 
Nevertheless changelings are heading into the direction of self individualism, but that time is far in the future and many generations from now.
 
Warp Drive vs. H-Drive
 
Equis once tried to develop warp technology. In it’s earliest stages of development all signs showed great promise for this new technology. There was one side effect that wasn’t taken into consideration though. Warp fields nullify the magical flow in all forms of life on Equis, thus warp tech development had all but stunted magical growth in most races involved, especially unicorns of Equestria. The results made it to where most unicorns to date have barely any magic left in them, and will continue to affect them for many generations. Changelings are one of the few races not involved deeply in warp drive tech development, so they remained the most unchanged of the races of Equis. Another side effect of the magical stunt growth was flight and cloud walking loss in pegasi, and earth magic from earth ponies all but dwindle to nothing. These growth stunts also lead to many terrorist organization to form against the ruling governments and oppose space tech development.
 
Thrane
 
Depending on who you ask the Thrane showing up was either a blessing or a curse. For Equis Star Command it was the best thing to happen since they developed H-Drives. The Thrane were a race of space ‘ponies’ and love to help others. They helped the Equis Fleet develop into the power it is today.
