Entry #35- Manic Magic · 2:08pm Jun 11th, 2017
Hey Everypony! A new season of MLP started back in April, and I’m finally getting around to talking about it now. Truth is, it’s been a little harder for me to keep up this Season. Really, these first three episodes are all I’ve seen so far.
I’m sure a lot of that has to do with the lack of adventure in the season opening. Way back when I started watching Season 1, I was a little disappointed that all the episodes weren’t like the first two, but the ‘Slice of Life’ aspect grew on me.
Still, some of my favorite episodes were those adventure ones, so I missed not having any at the start of Season 7. But I guess they’re saving the adventure for the Movie- so looking forward to seeing that! But for now, let’s talk these first three episodes.
Celestial Advice
- Twilight thinking the worst about the future? Noooo, not Twilight! Still, sometimes the best advice is just listening while someone is worried, so they can work things out for themselves. I think that suits Celestia’s “hooves”-off approach very well. Also, Discord is learning emotional chaos can be fun too- oh Discord, don’t ever stop causing problems!
All Bottled Up
- I enjoy the Starlight/Trixie dynamic, and that Starlight views Trixie as her best friend. Bottling up anger magically is certainly an interesting twist, and it seems like it’s something someone new at friendship would do. I’m glad to see that Trixie’s personality can annoy on Starlight too, and am kinda looking forward to seeing how they make each other grow as friends.
A Flurry of Emotions
- Don’t expect someone to be available last minute to babysit in general, kids- especially an authority figure, who likely has a lot of duties! I guess Cadence and Shining don’t have a royal babysitter/nanny- which seems silly for royalty.
Of course Twilight tries to take it all on- and most babies understand “later”, right?
I do like that instead of dropping off Flurry Hearts and being absent from most of the episode, we get to see Cadence and Shining at the gallery, too.
Anyone else think that “thing that’s small” they were looking at the end of the episode is going to be Flurry’s Cutie Mark? She certainly has her daddy’s talent for shielding magic.
That’s it for this week- I’ll try to make time for the next three episodes so I can talk about them next week. And who knows- maybe NEXT next week I’ll have a Fanfiction to post.
