So, I Almost Killed My Entire Family... · 8:44pm Jun 9th, 2017
My buddy Bubbles requested that I make him a batch of those Candied Bacon Beignets I made for Mother's Day, so I went ahead and prepped the bacon. I tossed it in the oven, then sat down and proceeded to putz around, chatting with my mom about the Cheeto in the White House who decided to hold a press conference today.
Several minutes pass, and, when I go to check on the bacon, a massive plume of smoke erupts from the oven, filling the entire house with acrid, suffocating smoke. So, by somehow flubbing on cooking bacon, I nearly suffocated my whole family.
Let that be a lesson to you. You're never too good or experienced to royally fuck something up
Woops.
If I died because of bacon, I'd probably not even be mad.
suertetudo ,
Still better than me. I nearly did the same thing by microwaving ramen... and yes, I remembered to put the water in it. Long story.
Damn! I gather you have an electric stove as this most likely wouldn't happen with gas. If the power adjustment knob was set to grill so the top element was on for grilling the internal temperature of the oven would rapidly heat up at a rate faster than the usual setting. I've used that to quickly heat up the oven for roasting before dropping back the setting to the required temperature.
Also when using the grilling function you have to keep the oven door open. Closed and you are looking at a nightmare.
Then again if it was gas you just had to have forgotten how much time had passed.
By the way where is the recipe for the Bacon Beignets?

It's electric, and I think I may have just set it too high. As for that recipe, give me a little bit, I'll blog about it.

I figured it would be that type. They are notorious for burning the crap out of things lest you have a heat distribution plate on the shelf below it. Cookies are known to be burnt on the bottom if you use electric. Never happened with gas.
Oh and cool about posting the recipe. Thanks!!
