So, I just had to go through all of my fics to see if they still look alright, since knighty has now implemented a way to change the layout of a fic between indented and double-spaced and it was switched to double-spaced for me by default.
I won’t write a blog entry now to say what I think of those new design choices (Hint: They suck.), I lack the energy, but I just wanted to write this in case anything looks off in one of my fics.
Which is unfortunately the case for “Aunt Millie” and “Fate must be Cruel only to the Kind”:

Due to a bug, fics don’t currently display blank lines, so fic title, chapter title and character tags at the top of each of the first chapter of these two fics are completely clumped together right now and I can’t change anything about it. The blank line between the chapter titles and the chapter text in each of the chapters for both fics is also not working right now.
I have reported this bug already, but I have no idea if it is getting fixed. With the stuff knighty pulls here, I’m not sure of anything anymore.....
I will write more about this disaster soon.

I can safely say that I’d be the first to enlist under Knighty in a brony civil war, (Unless the opposing faction is lead by Meeester, not fighting that guy, I’m sorry Knighty) but this update will both waste authors time, decrees their desire to write, and make them more likely to contract autism. I mean really? I can add the paragraph indentations myself anymore, I have to hit a button rather than my space bar until I get the length I want? And I can’t separate paragraph by more than one empty line to create dramatic build up?
It’s rubbish, utter rubbish. Where is Simon de Montfort when you need him? Because I demand a Parliamentary vote on this.

Sadly, that’s highly unlikely, unless a higher force gives him an epiphany about what he is really doing here. I have been watching knighty making questionable decisions over the heads of users for almost four years now. It wasn’t long after I hit up here that he changed the logo of the site to sell his bloody shirts.
There was only one time where he took an unwanted change back and that happened only because he directly messed with the authors of the site. And even that change was only taken back partially, as he implemented a so-called compromise to shut everyone up. But the problem the change brought with it for authors still partially persists since then.

You can still manually indent, too. Just hit Tab as usual. But they automatic way is really unneeded, you literally need to hit one key to make the indentation of a paragraph happen.
That’s not even fixing stuff that doesn’t need fixing anymore..... This is workload and effort put into a feature that no one needs, because frankly, adding those indentations takes mere minutes, even for a long story/chapter. If an author has perfectly time to write a lengthy fic, but then not enough time to invest a few more minutes for proper formatting, then the author is doing something wrong and should overthink his time management approaches.
TL;DR: knighty coding a feature just so that he has to do something. This man either needs a paid job or a job with less work hours, because he either doesn’t have enough to do or so much that he became addicted to working.
At least the stuff with the blank lines not working anymore is, according to Xaquseg, a bug and he’s currently fixing it. If I interpreted his message right, you can simply use the Enter key again to make blank lines in a few days.

Brick, the problem is, it doesn’t matter HOW you talk with knighty. I’m here for far longer than you are and I have made my experiences with this man.
Since you registered in March 2016, this is the first time you see him implementing a change that makes the site less attractive and that people don’t want and then ignoring the massive protests of users who aren’t happy with the changes.
It’s a habit and a long-standing tradition for knighty to shit on the users of FIMFiction.net and make them angry. And how people talk to him to express that the changes aren’t okay and that they want the old look/functions back doesn’t matter in the slightest.
Over the years, I saw users here talking with him in a friendly way to address their concerns about the changes made and users yell at him for those, and nothing of those ways worked.
I saw users being patiently explaining him why a certain change is an issue for the community and users screaming all their frustration and anger at him, neither of those things helped.
There were users being nice and calm, who politely asked him to revert the changes because the former look/functionality was better, and users who were stern and told him to get his shit together and again, nothing worked.
And I saw users being gentle with him when they addressed their concerns and others who insulted and attacked him for the changes he made and, like with the other examples, nothing helped to change his mind and to make him realize why the changes are so bad.
I have myself talked to him and expressed my concerns about what the does in all those various ways from being calm and polite to yelling at him loudly. I went through the whole spectrum myself.
Nothing ever helps with knighty, all you get out of him is stoic silence and ignorance and the only times he is answering to something is either when someone showers him with praise for the changes he came up with or when someone addresses a bug so serious that he can’t ignore it. And even the bugs people report don’t always get fixed by him.....
No one ever gets the changes they want from knighty, no matter if they insult him or be nice to him. knighty ignores everything. Even a rock is more communicative.
Today, most people insult him when they react to his changes because they have learned that knighty is a tyrannical sadist who never listens to them, no matter how much he screws something up, so they at least vent and unleash their full anger on him.
You can’t blame the users here for getting frustrated over him and for expressing this frustration.
At some point, the straw just breaks, and for most users here, the straw is severely damaged.
We all have a right to be angry and to express this anger, in whichever way, and trust me when I say you’ll reach this state of anger and frustration about him, too, one day. It eventually happens with everyone.

I did not insult Lord Knighty, as I said, I’ve the utmost respect for the man. I only stated a few of the new “upgrades” that I find rather unpleasant. I have very poor eyesight, and the tag changes has damned me to an eye appointment that I really didn’t want to go through with. It’s rather unfair for people like me, who find reading on a screen hard enough without it shrinking with updates on a regular basis.
