Every Page a Painting - Walls of Words

Yup, hello, it's me, back on my typesetting binge again, with another "Every Page a Painting" to show you. And boy oh boy, do I have a real treat for you this time around: one of my favorite novels on this site, one that hasn't been typeset before. . . well, until now, of course.

Every Page a Painting - By Any Other Name

First of March, it's clear to me
    There's something that's uncomforting. . .

Here I am again, about a fortnight after the first "Every Page a Painting", locked and loaded with a second one, whether you wanted it or not. Enjoy.

Every Page a Painting - Click, Clack, Neigh

I know, I know, it's quite bold of me to publish this on Valentine's Day of all days, but here it is all the same.

If you don't like the timing, just come back tomorrow. I'll wait.

If you're still here and you don't care about when you'd get this, all I can say is buckle up.

(Disclaimer: everything you see here is work in progress and subject to change.)

Ah yes, my hundredth blogpost on Fimfiction.

I know I should try to find one single topic to spend it on, but I've got several going through my head and only one milestone to do it in, so. . . what the hell, I'll just talk about all of them.

Buckle up; this is a certified Anthology Blogpost.™

"Yesterday, You Said Tomorrow" or "Why I Haven't Been Writing Lately" · 2:03am Jun 5th, 2017

I am, Shia! Now shut up and let me concentrate!

I've been struggling to keep up with the stories on Fimfiction that I said I would read at some point since I started coming here. Then, when I started attending college just last summer, I started catching up. Last weekend, I celebrated a major milestone -- I had completed all the stories in all my bookshelves outside my Read it Later.

Now, this weekend I started going through that bookshelf. It was huge -- exactly 240 stories when I started, across 24 pages, totaling damn near six million words.

First, I sorted out my RiL shelf by words -- but since Fimfiction sorts it by longest first, I ended up going backwards. I read twenty stories yesterday, and twenty more today. All of these were less than 4K words each. Now, my plan for tackling my RiL is as follows:

Every weekend (and on any days I might have off), I'll do the following:

--For the time being, I'll read ten stories per day. (This equates to one page of stories per day.)
--When I hit 10K words, I'll cut my load in half -- five stories per day.
--When I hit 100K words, I'll start limiting myself to 100K words per day. (This is not a strict limit, and may go over or under depending on the story.)

I have four stories in my RiL that are at least one million words in length. Assuming 100K words (give or take) per day, it will take me to read through:

Admiral Biscuit's Silver Glow's Journal -- 10 days
Humanity's The Lost Element -- 16 days (Mature; cannot link)
Somber's Fallout: Equestria - Project Horizons -- 18 days (Mature; cannot link)
kudzuhaiku's The Chase -- 24 days (Mature; cannot link)

Only one exception to my plan: Story #13 on the list is the famed Austraeoh. I'll take a break from my RiL and read through the Austraeoh epic to the end (or, at least, to the most recent chapter of the most recent story). Also, I'm breaking away from my 100K-words-per-day rule and settling with a 100-chapter-per-day rule. With that implemented, I don't imagine it should take me more than 18 days to get up to speed.

EDIT: Change of plans -- I'm saving the Austraeoh epic for last. That thing stretches half the entire length of my RiL when I started. Assuming my 100K-words-per-day rule, I should get it done in about 32 days.

There's only one major hitch I should be aware of: The Chase and The Lost Element are both marked "Incomplete," and may update at any time. The Chase is longer, but its chapters are usually around 2K words each, but outliers never reach the fifth figure; therefore, if it updates, it would be to minimal consequence. However, if The Lost Element updates, it could significantly set back my progress -- its chapters regularly go into the five figures, with the last one being over 70K words in length.

If I follow this schedule right, I should be through my RiL bookshelf by New Year's Eve at the soonest, and Valentine's Day at the latest.

In unrelated news, I discovered that Fimfiction may no longer be blacklisted by Imgur for image embeds. Make of this information as you will.

Good night, and good luck.
